However, new homes usually feature an enhanced level of protection for the consumer, separate from their home insurance policy--a home warranty that the home is built properly according to updated codes. Some contractors self-insure, while others rely on third-party providers. Sadly, having a home warranty—regardless of the provider or the builder—does not always carry the peace of mind one would ordinarily hope for or expect.
