Results Differ in Accutane Side Effects Cases

. By
Atlantic City, NJA seven-member jury recently awarded $2 million in damages to one plaintiff, but two others involved in Accutane side effects cases did not receive anything, reports the Courtroom View Network.

According to the news provider, the jury heard evidence for more than six weeks before coming to their decision.

In the case of Kelley Andrews, who reportedly developed inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) after taking Accutane, the jury ruled that while drugmaker Roche did not properly warn of the risks, the failure to warn was not a significant factor in the woman's decision to take the medication.

In actor James Marshall's case, the jury reportedly found that Accutane was not a significant factor in his development of IBD, according to the news source.

Finally, the jury found in favor of Gillian Gaghan, explaining that Accutane was a major reason why she developed the condition and that Roche's lack of warning was a major factor in her decision to take the drug. As a result, the jury found that the $2 million would be a reasonable amount to compensate for Gaghan's disease, according to the news source.
