Oakland, CA: For some California housekeepers who celebrated last September the bill that granted permanent California overtime protection for domestic workers, the law doesn’t apply to them – but it should. An East Oakland hotel owner, for instance, refused to pay overtime to six housekeepers: consequently employees, a legal advocacy firm and the city of Oakland filed a lawsuit against the Quality Inn in Oakland.

Troy, MI Members of the Michigan Muslim community have launched a lawsuit arguing that the travel restrictions imposed on citizens from seven countries with Muslim majorities is unconstitutional. The complaint, filed in Virginia in Federal Court, argues President Trump’s Executive Order titled “Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals” will have dire consequences for them as individuals and stigmatize them for years to come.

Washington, DC Nestlé Professional North America, a Cleveland, Ohio establishment, is recalling approximately 6,000 pounds of a ready-to-eat (RTE) bacon base product that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The packages of bacon base contain as an ingredient the specific Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP), which was previously recalled.
