Toronto, Canada A new study suggests that Zyprexa side effects could include an increased risk of falls and fractures in seniors. Zyprexa is an atypical antipsychotic medication, but it is often prescribed off-label to treat dementia and behavior issues in seniors. Zyprexa has also been linked to an increased risk of diabetes.

New York, NY It’s been almost eight years since Eli Lilly agreed to settle more than 18,000 Zyprexa lawsuits alleging patients developed diabetes and other health problems after taking Zyprexa. Those lawsuits alleged patients developed serious Zyprexa side effects as a result of taking the antipsychotic medication, and claimed Eli Lilly failed to warn them about the risks.

St. Louis, MO There is little doubt that the plaintiff in a Zyprexa side effects lawsuit is stricken with tardive dyskinesia likely caused by his use of Zyprexa over a time span of four years. However, in spite of the best efforts of his Zyprexa lawyer, Timothy Boehm’s lawsuit was lost after defendant Eli Lilly was granted summary judgment in the case. An appeals court upheld the lower court’s ruling.

St. Petersburg, FL There appears to be no group that is safe from the deadly side effects of Zyprexa. Seniors with dementia who are given the drug are at an increased risk of death, adults and children have a risk of suicidal tendencies and those who survive that may suffer from serious weight gain and diabetes. With all these potentially dangerous side effects associated with Zyprexa, can it still be said that the benefits of the drug outweigh the risks?
