California Dog Bite Claims Led Nation in 2010

Los Angeles, CA The amount of money dished out in California dog bite claims last year was the highest in the nation, exceeding $11 million, according to a recent report conducted by State Farm.

Dog-gone It: The Dr. Phil Dog Bite Lawsuit

Los Angeles, CA In February, KTTV Fox 11, out of Los Angeles, reported on the formal lawsuit filed by plaintiff Janet Harris alleging a bite from a dog owned by renowned television personality Dr. Phil McGraw caused her a grievous injury, forcing her to abandon her business. Dog bites are part of the mix of cautions every dog owner is required to ward against under Los Angeles Premises Liability—and dog bites are nothing new. However, a case involving a well-known celebrity tends to foster even bigger headlines.

Dodgers Seek Dismissal of Los Angeles Premises Liability Case

Los Angeles, CA The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly asking a judge to dismiss a Los Angeles premises liability case against them stemming from a fan who sustained a broken neck after an allegedly drunk fan fell on him from the upper deck of Dodger Stadium, reports the City News Service.

Dog Bite Lawsuit—Dr. Phil Bites Back

Beverly Hills, CA In December 2009, Janet Harris was visiting her friends Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw at their Beverly Hills mansion when she was bitten by their dog Maggie, a Korean Jindo. (Harris, a skin care specialist, was also a frequent guest on the Dr. Phil TV show.)

Two Tales of Premises Liability

Van Nuys, CA Two distinctly different incidents in the state of California both speak to issues of Los Angeles Premises Liability. One is the escape of a dog from the dog owner's property that resulted in a dog bite, but also ended in tragic circumstances. The other liability case involved the slip and fall of a senior. Both incidents resulted in legal action.

Premises Liability Lawsuits: Dog v. Dog and Walmart Slip and Fall

Los Angeles, CA Two premises liability lawsuits have recently been in the news and both are very similar to cases settled by Los Angeles premises liability attorneys. In a dog bite case, one traumatized couple saw their 5-pound Pomeranian mauled to death by a 150-pound Mastiff; the second case involves a "slip and fall" suit filed against Walmart.

Los Angeles Premises Liability and Dog Bites

Santa Monica, CA Dog bites are on the rise in the US, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Hospital admissions for dog bites have nearly doubled in 16 years. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that more dog bites originate with an owned dog, as opposed to a stray. In California, this brings the whole issue of Los Angeles Premises Liability to the fore, given that in many cases a dog bite comes from a dog you know.
