Alpharetta, GA: A group of women employed by LexisNexis Risk Solutions in the state of Georgia will share in a $1.2 million settlement alleging pay discrimination due to gender. The 185 women in Georgia will be joined by 26 workers in Florida receiving back pay stemming from gender discrimination, a violation of Georgia employment and federal laws.

Waycross, GA Carolina Skiff, a manufacturer of fiberglass boats, was cited and fined more than $95,000 recently for violating Georgia labor law, according to a release from the US Department of Labor.

Although legally a woman cannot be fired for being pregnant, the cop was fired and may now file a Georgia employment lawsuit alleging her employers violated her rights. When employee rights are violated, lawsuits alleging violations of federal and Georgia labor laws can be filed, to either compensate the victim financially or to help her regain her job.

Morrow, GA A Georgia Employment violation that also involved employees in three other states will result in the repayment of about $78,000 in back wages to 22 foreign teachers. According to the March 11 edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the US Department of Labor (DOL) concluded that Global Teachers Research and Resources Inc., (Global Teachers) of Morrow, had violated rules as they relate to the employment of nonimmigrant temp workers.

Lavonia, GA The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has levied a fine of more than $62,000 against a cotton manufacturer for allegedly violating Georgia labor laws in the September 2010 death of a worker in the town of Lavonia, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

Kennesaw, GA A call center outsourcing provider in Georgia has been hit with a Georgia employment lawsuit alleging unpaid overtime wages. Three former employees of the call center, located in Kennesaw, allege that Ryla Inc. mandated that they perform uncompensated work prior to the commencement of and after the expiration of their normal shift. The work, it is alleged, was not compensated.

Bainbridge, GA Two Georgia employment lawsuits stemming from allegations of gender discrimination were recently settled out of court. The Decatur County government has agreed to pay $765,000 to three male plaintiffs, Steven Enfinger, Guy Yates and Jimmy Bellflower, and $600,000 to a female plaintiff, Cynthia Harrell.
