Philadelphia, PA: Allegations of witness tampering have stalled the beginning of the Xarelto litigation. The first Xarelto trail was set to being Monday, November 6, but instead got sidelined by attempts to determine the significance of a meeting between a key witness, Dr. Timothy Aldridge, the plaintiff’s treating physician, and a Janssen sales representative.

New Brunswick, NJ: Days after a Texas jury awarded $1 billion to six patients in a hip replacement lawsuit, another lawsuit has been filed against Johnson & Johnson. The pharmaceutical company is not the only to face allegations of problems with its hip replacement devices, however. In addition to J&J subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics, Stryker and others face lawsuits alleging their products had an early failure rate and caused a host of issues, including metallosis.

Boston, MA: A hip replacement implant failure lawsuit that was dismissed back in February, only to be appealed by the plaintiffs to a higher court, remains firmly in the sights of defendants Johnson & Johnson (J&J) and DePuy Orthopaedics Inc (DePuy). Earlier this month, J&J together with DePuy urged a three-judge panel with the First Circuit to uphold the ruling of the lower court.

Dallas, TX: Johnson & Johnson has been ordered by a federal jury in Dallas to pay more than $1 billion to six patients who said the company's metal-on-metal Pinnacle hip implants were defectively designed and caused them harm. Although Johnson & Johnson subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics indicated it would appeal the decision, the victory could be a huge one for other plaintiffs waiting for their metal-on-metal hip implant lawsuit to move forward.

New York, NY Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) artificial hip replacement, the Articular Surface Replacement (ASR), was estimated to fail in approximately 40 percent of patients, based on data from its own internal analysis, made public for the first time this week. The document is one of hundreds of internal company documents expected to become public over the coming months, as the first of over 10,000 lawsuits by patients who received a faulty ASR implant gets ready to go to court.
