More Cantaloupe Lawsuits Filed

Albuquerque, NM Another cantaloupe lawsuit has been filed in the wake of the massive cantaloupe recall from September 2011. At least 29 people died in the cantaloupe listeria outbreak and one woman reportedly suffered a miscarriage. An additional 139 people became ill, allegedly linked to the cantaloupe recall.

Cantaloupe Food Poisoning Deaths Allegedly Point to Inadequate Inspections

Lake Forest Park, WA The cantaloupe food poisoning deaths that were allegedly caused by fruit from a Colorado farm have led many to point fingers at the inspection practices that regulators use, Bloomberg reported.

Cantaloupe Listeria Lawsuits Filed

Houston, TX In the wake of the recent cantaloupe recall, reportedly the deadliest food recall in years, cantaloupe food poisoning lawsuits have been filed, alleging consumers were seriously harmed from eating food linked to the 2011 cantaloupe recall. Although the death toll linked to the Rocky Ford cantaloupe has not risen in a few days, there is still the possibility that patients could fall ill from the cantaloupe, because listeriosis has a long incubation period.

Death Toll in Cantaloupe Recall Rises

Los Angeles, CA As the death toll linked to the cantaloupe recall rises, lawsuits have been filed against the companies involved in the 2011 cantaloupe recall. Although there should no longer be any listeria cantaloupe in customer's refrigerators, there is still a chance that people who ingested the recalled cantaloupe could become ill, meaning the death toll could still increase.

Potential Source of Cantaloupe Food Poisoning Identified by FDA Officials

Holly, CO Officials from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that pools of water on the floor and old, hard-to-clean equipment at a Colorado farm's packing facility were most likely to blame for the recent cantaloupe food poisoning outbreak, according to The Associated Press.

Listeria-Contaminated Cantaloupe Illness Increases

Washington, DC The number of people who have become ill from consuming Listeria contaminated cantaloupes has risen to 123, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports, with the death toll so far at 25.

First Cantaloupe Listeria Illness Reported in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg, PA The first illness from Listeria contaminated cantaloupe in the state of Pennsylvania is being reported this week, with state health officials confirming that an elderly suburban woman in Montgomery County became ill after eating an infected cantaloupe. She was hospitalized in early September but has since recovered, according to media reports.

Cantaloupe Recall Expands As More Deaths Are Reported

Buffalo, NY As more reports come in of people suffering from listeria contamination linked to the recent cantaloupe recall, the recall on cantaloupe itself has been expanded. According to NPR (10/07/11), the 2011 cantaloupe recall now involves precut fruit salads, which reportedly contain cantaloupe linked to the listeria outbreak.

Attorney: Cantaloupe Food Poisoning Dangerous for Some

Houston, TX As the effects of the recent listeria outbreak linked to the recent cantaloupe recall continue to spread, more reports of illness and death are coming in, including reports of health effects suffered by pregnant women. Aimee Robert, attorney with Johnson Law Group, says this listeria outbreak, which led to a recall on cantaloupe, is particularly dangerous.
