Negligence Lawsuits in California Wildfires

Santa Rosa, CA: Amid allegations of negligence in its mitigation of the risk and spread of the deadly Coffey Park and Sonoma County wildfires California power supplier PG&E finds itself facing the possibility of lawsuits.

Thousands of residents of Santa Rosa, CA, have been made homeless by the fires, while others remain missing. Claims are being made that PG&E failed to maintain and repair its high-voltage power lines, which allegedly came into contact with tinder-dry vegetation and set off the Tubbs fire and several other fires still burning in California Wine Country.

This theory is currently being examined by investigators searching for the cause of the fires, which began October 8 with the onset of extremely high winds across the region.

The unusually high winds caused the Tubbs fire to spread under extreme wind from Calistoga to Santa Rosa. The fire crossed Highway 101 into residential neighborhoods, leveling the homes of more than 2,900 others across Santa Rosa.

Damage linked to wildfires include extensive property damage, personal injury and, in some cases, death.
