Ritz-Carlton

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the hotel company for allegedly breaking Massachusetts state wage laws by failing to pay banquet servers the full 21% service fee charged to all private parties. Banquet servers at the Ritz receive only 14.5% of the mandatory fee, which for years has been added to the food and beverage bills for weddings, parties, and other functions. The class was filed in Suffolk Superior Court and claims the Ritz is depriving workers of compensation by withholding tips, which are distributed to other staff members, including managers.
