New Study Links Prostate Cancer with X-ray and Barium Enema

Risk Increased in Young-Onset Prostate Cancer

A new study published in the British Journal of Cancer has shown a link between the use of previous diagnostic radiation procedures and prostate cancer.

Researchers at the University of Nottingham have found that men who underwent a hip or pelvic X-ray or barium enema 10 years previously were 2.5 times more likely to develop prostate cancer than the general population. A greater association was evident in men with a family history of prostate cancer.
