Media/Telecom Lawsuits

Media and telecommunication laws govern print, radio, television, internet, video or DVD, video games, cable telephones, mobile telephones and fax. Lawsuits in this category can be filed against telecommunications or media companies who have overcharged you or charged for undelivered services. Lawsuits can also involve violations of privacy, false advertising, unfair business practices, unauthorized use of media, and more.

One common Telecommunications law is the Do-Not-Call Implementation Act put in place in 2003 by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to limit telemarketing calls. U.S. residents can register for free and telemarketers must comply with this nationwide request and stop calling within 31 days.

Direct TV took over $391.00 out of my acct. without permission. It caused my light bill to bounce. I had to go to a cash advance place to get money to pay light co. and put the rest in the bank to cover car payment. My light co. is charging me $30.00 for bounced check. What can I do, if anything?

After having the service for several years, my wife contacted DirecTV to move my service to another home. DirecTV then put me in another two-year contract without notice. They have since sold the “fake” debt several times and I'm being constantly harassed by numerous collection agencies.

I've had directv for about 6 months, I've had constant scrambling on my HD TV and no one can solve the problem. Me and my family went an entire weekend with no television. I've had 2 new recievers in the last 2 weeks and still having the same problems. I would like nothing more then to cancel Directv with no early termination fees.

I have been sent to collections after repeatedly requesting clarification on the cancellation policy of DirecTV. They have assessed that I owe them for cancellation fees when service was terminated within 28 days. I was verbally informed at the time of ordering service that I had 30 days to cancel for any reason. Additionally I never received the equipment that I had requested with service.
