A settlement has been reached in the breach of contract lawsuit filed by actress Kathy Bates against movie producer Martin Bregman. A $1.25 million dollar settlement will be paid to Bates to compensate her for damages suffered when Bregman backed out of a deal for her to star in an upcoming movie. Bates alleged that she had an outstanding agreement with the film's production company that she would be guaranteed the money whether or not the film was made, or she was in it.
