Lawry's Restaurants, Inc.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit seeking class action status against the restaurant chain alleging gender discrimination. The suit was filed in federal court in Los Angeles and claims Lawry's Restaurants have continued a policy that dates back to 1938 of using only women servers. The steakhouse chain allegedly bars men from becoming servers and therefore denies them the opportunity to work in the higher paying server jobs.
