Johnson & Johnson Face Aveeno SPF 70-100+ Collection Consumer Fraud Lawsuit

- by

New York, NY Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is facing a federal consumer fraud class action lawsuit over allegations that product labeling of its "Aveeno SPF 70-100+" collection makes false and misleading claims and that those claims are reasonably likely to deceive the public.

J&J distributes, markets and sells several similar over-the-counter sunscreens under its "Aveeno Active Naturals"brand – three with a SPF of 70, 85, or 100+ (The SPF Collection) and one other with an SPF of 55. The Products' labels, with the notable exception of the SPF value, make virtually identical representations – all promising long-lasting protection against skin damage caused by the sun. The Aveeno 70-100 SPF collection retails for $1.50 more than the Aveeno SPF 55.

The lawsuit claims that the class has purchased products that do not perform as advertised.
