Hope Food Supply Shut Down and Ordered to Recall Seafood
Hope Food Supply, a Texas food processing plant, has been ordered shut down by the FDA, and must recall all seafood products since 2007.
The firm has failed to implement an adequate Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) for its seafood products, and cannot restart its plant until it has done so.
The plan ensures that all food safety hazards are are identified and preventative measures are planned to deal with any hazards. Without adequate controls, seafood products can contain pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes.
The products have been distributed nationwide. Consumers should discard any of these products still in their homes, and contact medical help if they have eaten any.
