Honda, Toyota, Mazda Issue Massive North American Recall

Washington, DC: Toyota, Honda and Nissan are recalling 1.7 million cars globally, including some popular Corolla, Matrix and Camry models. In the US, Nissan has recalled approximately 480,000 cars and Mazda a further 45,000.

Honda, which is recalling more than 1.1 million autos, said the recall was necessary to replace passenger front airbag inflators. "It is possible that the passenger front airbag inflators in affected vehicles may deploy with too much pressure, which may cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury," the company said in a statement.

Toyota said it had reports of five airbag malfunctions, but no injuries (CNNmoney.com). The majority of the recalled vehicles are model years 2001, 2002 and 2003.

In Canada, the three automakers are recalling more than 107,000 vehicles due to a problem with a Japanese supplier's airbags in which the inflator may burst, scattering plastic pieces everywhere, and presenting a risk for injury. In Canada, the recall covers almost 81,000 Honda Civics and about 11,000 Acura 1.7 EL vehicles from the 2001-2003 model years, 6,140 CR-V vehicles from 2002-2003 and almost 10,000 Odysseys from the 2002 model year.

I was just in a car accident today in my 2007 Honda Accord. I had been contacted by Honda recently about their recall but hadn't gotten around to setting up an appointment yet. My driver side airbag deployed but caused a hematoma on my forehead, I have pictures to show what it caused. But no other airbags worked! Do I have a case against Honda? Need some guidance, Thank you
