Hanes Brands Hosiery Subject of Consumer Fraud Class Action Lawsuit

- by

Santa Clara, CA: Hanes brands hosiery is facing a potential consumer fraud class action lawsuit alleging its advertising deliberately misleads consumers into purchasing its hosiery products based on claims its hosiery products resist runs, making them superior to other competing brands.

Filed by Judith Rodriguez and Maryann Riedel on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated, the suit claims that the Hanes hosiery products are not, in any way, different from its regular products except that they are sold at a higher price. Further, the suit claims that the defendants have failed to disclose material facts and information regarding the hosiery products, causing consumers to pay a higher price for what they believed to be a premium product.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant, maintain class action status and appoint representative and counsel, restitution and disgorgement, compensatory and statutory damages, interest, attorneys' fees, costs, and other relief as the court may deem just.

Plaintiffs are represented by C.K. Lee and Anne Seelig of Lee Litigation Group PLLC in New York City. The case is U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York Case number 17-cv-01612.

I have to agree with the allegations in the above. I've bought many brands of hosiery and am unable to tell that the ones made by Hanes are any better, despite their claims. Though they do look nice, I have started to pull some on and actually snagged them and had them run all the way up my leg BEFORE I ever got them on! If that is a superior quality product, it is sad.
