Recall of Goodman Company Air Conditioners/Heat Pump Units Reannounced

Washington, DC: Goodman Company, LP, has reannounced a recall of its Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner/Heat Pump Units due to fire hazard. The recall was previously announced in August, 2008, and involved approximately 30,000 units.

The units were recalled because their power cords can overheat, which causes a burn or fire hazard. Goodman received eleven reports of smoke or fire associated with the power cords.

The recalled units were sold at heating and cooling equipment dealers from February, 2007, through June, 2008 for between $700 and $1,000. They include 5.0 kW Amana-brand, Comfort-Aire-brand and Century-brand Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner units with model numbers PTxxx3x50xx (Amana) and EKTxxx-150x (Comfort-Aire and Century) and serial numbers 0702112056 through 0804237539. The model and serial numbers are located on the control board plate found under the PTAC unit's front cover.

Purchased a Goodman unit in 2012. Worked fine until 2015. Since then have spent 1500 on repairs and refrigerant problems. I see there is a class action suit is possibly going on with this company. How do I add my name to the list. Have a tech coming out today, again for freon leak. Pipe on outside freezing up. 04/24/2017. Unemployed and can't keep enduring this expense.

Last year I finally had to replace my Goodman attic unit that had been suffering from leaking Freon for the better part of 5 years. the problem started about the forth summer in our newly built 2006 home and still persists in my remaining main unit that has been recharged 3 times and needs to be replaced or repaired as well for the same coil problem. I'm also looking to be part of a Virginia class action on this issue. it cost me over $7000 to replace one unit and will probably cost another $9000 to replace the other.

Last year we had our unit looked at. There was no freon in it and our coils had a slight leak. Just had our unit looked at yesterday 05/12/2016 and the coils are leaking very bad, there is rust, and it is going to cost $1110 to replace it. How do I get added to this lawsuit?

We just replaced our Goodman AC unit due to a leaking coil which has been found to be defective. Looking for the class action lawsuit in Virginia.
