Foppen Smoked Salmon Recalled

Washington, DC: Foppen, A Dutch Seafood Company, is recalling their smoked salmon after hundreds of people have been sickened with salmonella after consuming the product.

Foppen sells fish to many Dutch supermarkets and to stores around the world, including the United States. After receiving numerous reports of salmonella poisoning, The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment has traced the salmon back to the company and are now conducting research to identify the cause.

The National Institute for Public Health and Environment has stated that at least 200 people in the Netherlands have been infected while a total of 100 people in the U.S. have been affected.

Foppen has halted all production of smoked salmon until the investigation is completed.
