Facebook Faces Privacy Violations Class Action

Baltimore, MD: Facebook, Inc., the social networking website with more than 800 million users worldwide, unlawfully tracked the internet activities of its users, according to allegations in an internet lawsuit filed on February 17.

According to the lawsuit, Facebook ignored repeated inquiries from an internet technology and security blogger who discovered that the unique identifiers Facebook uses to identify its members continued to track their internet usage even after they had logged off of Facebook.com.

Facebook's actions were unlawful, the lawsuit claims, because the terms of use and privacy policies posted on Facebook.com advised Facebook members that their post-log-out internet activities were not tracked. The lawsuit alleges Facebook's actions violated several Federal and State laws, including the Federal Wiretap Act, the California Internet Privacy Requirements Act, and the California Unfair Competition Law.

I sometime could not opt out. There would be time when I am sure I've signed out and find my facebook account open or signed on.

I stopped using my facebook account because of online tracking, email spam from messages plus zynga games I couldn't opt out of. Since I stopped using my account I changed my email to avoid facebook all together. On my cell phone, I had to void my warranty by rooting my phone to get rid of facebook\google tracking apps that were pre installed on my unlocked phone!

Facebook keeps track of my browsing online, and trying to put the related ads to my facebook account, very annoying.
