`Santa Clara, CA: Dog food manufacturer PetMatrix LC is facing a consumer fraud class action over claims its dog treats could pose a health hazard for animals.
Filed by Charlotte Docken of California, for and on behalf of all others similarly situated, the lawsuit claims that her dog required surgery to clear an abdominal obstruction, allegedly after consuming one of the defendant' treats.
The lawsuit asserts that advertising for the PetMatrix Dream Bone dog treats state that the products do not contain any rawhide but do contain 99 percent digestible ingredients. However, Docken claims the treats do contain a large amount of partially or completely indigestible ingredients, allegedly with the full knowledge of PetMatrix.
The plaintiff seeks a jury trial, restitution for any damages class members suffered from using the product, as well as disgorgement of profits from sale of the product, interest and litigation costs. She is represented by attorney Todd M. Friedman of the Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman in Beverly Hills. The case is US District Court for the Central District of California Case number 8:16-cv-00994.
