Cardura Overdose and Low Blood Pressure

Cardura or Cardura XL (doxazosin mesylate) has been allegedly linked to overdose and death. A 32-year old woman ingested 60mg of Cardura and died from hypotension associated with a grand mal seizure (the woman had a history of chronic renal failure and epilepsy).

This tablet-form pharmaceutical is designed to lower blood pressure for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also prescribed to treat urinary problems associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or other prostate problems.

Additional side effects include dizziness, vertigo, fatigue, low blood pressure or hypotension, edema, and shortness of breath. As with many pharmaceutical drugs, Cardura may also decrease the function of the liver.
