Broccoli Items Recalled due to Possible Listeria Contamination


Washington, DC: Taylor Farms Pacific is voluntarily recalling Brocolli items with the specific product codes dates in a limited distribution showing Best if Used by from 2/7/11 to 3/7/11 due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall. For a complete list of affected products, see the link below.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness in a person who eats a food item contaminated with it. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. Most healthy adults and children rarely become seriously ill. The illness primarily impacts pregnant women and adults with weakened immune systems.

The precautionary recall notification is being issued due a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample collected and analyzed by the Washington Department of Agriculture. This precautionary recall is being conducted to reach retailers as well as consumers.

The cases were distributed by Taylor Farms to 6 states, including; CA, AZ, NV, OR, UT, WA. Distribution dates were from February 7 to February 24.
