Allstate Corp. Age Discrimiantion



Class action certification is being sought in lawsuits filed against Allstate Corp. alleging violations of age-discrimination laws. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has alleged that the company violated the laws by terminating more than 6,400 agents during a "Preparing for the Future Group Reorganization Plan." Furthermore, the company set a one-year waiting period before the agents could be rehired, forcing them to lose benefits connected to their original service dates. More than 94% of the agents who had their job terminated were 40 or older.
