Love v. Johanns Case No. 1:00CV02502 U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia
Class action status is being sought in a lawsuit filed against the U.S. Department of Agriculture on behalf of women who claim that their farm loan applications were denied based on their gender. The suit seeks to represent all women who claim they were denied farm operating, farm ownership or emergency farm loans from 1981 to 1996, or from Oct. 19, 1998 to the present.

Circuit Court of the Appeals denied the plaintiffs' appeal of the district court's denial of class certification, but remanded the case to the district court on other grounds.
