Sears and LG Electronics announce Recall to repair approximately 20,000 Refrigerators

On June 29th, Sears Roebuck and Company of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and LG Electronics of Lincolnshire, Illinois, in conjunction with the Federal Government, announced the recall of approximately 20,000 LG and Kenmore Elite® Trio™ Three door refrigerators. A faulty component in the condenser fan motor can short circuit, causing the motor to overheat and poses a fire hazard to consumers. According to the recall notice, LG has received 82 reports of incidents involving a condenser fan motor failure due to this problem, specifically described as condenser arcing and smoking. There has been smoke damage in a few incidents, but the companies involved state they are not aware of any injuries.

All of the recalled refrigerators are three door models with capacities ranging from 21 to 25 cubic feet, with a bottom freezer. They come in titanium, stainless steel, bisque, white or black finishes. The units have the following model and serial numbers located on the data plate inside the fresh food section of the refrigerator door:

Consumers are instructed to contact Sears or LG for information on obtaining a free retrofit to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Sears Kenmore model # 795.72493.611. I bought a Kenmore French door on Black Friday 2016 and put in use on Sept/2017 ( because my house was being built during that time). After 4 years the compressor gone bad. I spoke with the Sears Home Warranty Department, the customer service suggested that I should by the warranty for $49.95/month for technician to come out to diagnosis with no charge ( if I go a head with the repair) but I still have to pay for the repair which is sounds like $400 - $500. On top of that I have to keep my warranty for a year which is about $600. Sounds like not worth it.

Bought a Kenmore Elite (model: 79572489411) bottom freezer in 2016. Ice maker went out within 2 years. Now in 2021, we have replaced the condenser, compressor, drier filter, computer board, and a freezer evap cover and fan within 6 months. I was informed by the technician I had an LG and not a Whirlpool. We are still waiting on the last part to arrive and be installed. I paid $3500 for this refrigerator. I have not owned an LG before and I will not own another one in the future.

Sears, LG Refrigerator with a Kenmor Elite badge on the right door. model 795.73167.610 quit cooling on 8-30-21. After numerous phone calls to LG and Sears finally got a appointment with a sears tech. Arrived on 9-8-21. Here for almost 3 hours, on his phone for 3/4 of the time. Finally said bad compressor, said that cpu board was not compatible with their "Universal Compressor"and I would have to purchase a new board for the repair. Only the compressor was covered. Total bill would be 812.00. Would take 2 weeks and parts would be shipped to my home. He had nothing on his truck. Seemed he had no idea what he was saying or doing. Felt like I was dealing with a clueless Shyster.

I have a Kenmore elite bought it new from Sears refrigerator quit working not getting cold, after talking to a technician giving him all the information and my model number he's informed me that everything that I have described to him and everything that I checked leads to a bad compressor, stated there was a lawsuit against it. Did my time to file a claim expire?

Springs Ar. today the LG compressor failed, water ran over the
floor from melted ice and lost all food, much meat products. Sears needs to pay for defect parts that has failed on lots of refrigerators.

I have purchased 2 Kenmore refrigerators within the last 7 years and both have died. The first is model# 596.72003016
Serial# K54705519 which died after just 4 years because the cooling system had pin holes in it. Not fixable.
The other one is

Has now died no longer cooling.
Very frustrating and costly to purchase from Sears. I totally understand why they are closing.

I purchase a Kenmore Elite refrigerator in 2016. Had a repair 2 years later and now, August 2021 the compressor is done. this refrigerator is less than 5 years of purchase. Sears has given me the runaround on a warranty of a television I purchased after their technician said it should be replace vs ordering a part which never came. Then they kept switching me from one department to another without resolution. I am stating this as I was called to renew the warranty on the refrigerator and a couple of other appliances including the TV. Needless to say, I will never engage in a product or service from Sears. This company used to be great and now it is horrible!

Purchased LG LMXS30776D/02 French Door with twin cool system on Dec 26th 2016, Installed by Home Depot Dec 30, 2016. Paid $2995.00 and it lasted until Feb 18, 2020. LG support was not helpful, Home Depot said my 3 year Service plan was expired because it actually started on the day it was purchased verse the day manufacturer warranty expires. Did research and troubleshooting online and most issues are the Linear Inverter Compressor or the PCB. Performed tests on the PCB and all good, Found issue with compressor. Contacted local Appliance service company to look at the fridge and found compressor to be bad. $85.00 service call, it will end up costing me close to $800.00 dollars once parts are received and unit is repaired. Question is how long will it last before it fails again. New Compressor is the"UPDATED UNIT with UPDATED SOFTWARE in the PCB. Still waiting for parts and unit to be repaired.

My daughter bought a Bottom Freezer Refrigerator 12/2017. She couldn't afford the extended warranty so she didn't buy it. Within a little over year the unit quit and she lost a "ton" of food. My hubby was able to fix and it worked for another year. Now, 25 months of owning it, it quit again. My husband can't fix it. We called a repair person and they didn't know what to do because it was intermittent.

I called Sears and got passed around and around through two different phone calls. They would NOT help my daughter since she didn't spend the money on the extended warranty.

I can see why Kenmore is "kaput" and why Sears is going under- they have inferior quality and refuse to stand behind their appliances.

My daughter, a single mom, cannot afford a new fridge and it looks like that's what's going to have to happen. She's got little kids and no fridge!

Purchased a Kenmore Elite 795.74023.412 in late Aug 2018 that just stopped working. Control panel went, which made the compressor go. I'm so frustrated that I have to buy a new refrigerator after 1.5 yrs!!

My family has had the LG trio fridge for 5 years and almost a year ago it stopped cooling every time we call the customer support all they say is to have it reset to factory setting and it never works. We had a tech come to check it and the teach said the compressor and cooing coil were no longer working.

We purchased a Kenmore Elite 3 door bottom freezer in May 2017. In August 2019 at 15 months old, the compressor went out. Sears was of no help when I called so I hired a local repairman to come take a look. He charged me $100 to do nothing but say “the compressor is bad, you’ll have to go through Sears” and showed me a clause in th instruction booklet that states sealed refrigerant systems (compressor etc) were covered parts only for an extended period of time. It took multiple calls, long waiting times, $540 out of pocket and 3 trips by the repair company but we finally got it repaired mid October. It worked great until February 15, 2020 (a whopping 4 months) and the compressor has gone out again! It is now a beautiful piece of useless art sitting in our garage and we are out $560 for parts, food losses twice $350 and the $2000 to buy a new refrigerator that does not have an LG made compressor! Beyond disappointed... I’m angry.

Only had my Kenmore Elite refrigerator for 2 years and the compressor has died. The company is willing to cover the part, but the labor over $400 is absurd; especially with the lost of food due to spoilage and the defrosting ice leaking on my hardwood floor into my basement ceiling. I am losing big from this purchase. The fact they know this is a faulty compressor and still sell them and not want to stand behind them is beyond my understanding. This is definitely not fair to the consumer for this company to steal our money

Never buy a LG refrigerator
Had it for 4 to 5 years and the compressor has been out twice already and top part quit also.

I have a Kenmore Elite Ive owned for over a year and first the Led lights in freezer quit now the ice maker isnt working . Im so disappointed in the model.. Went through Samsung Class action on my Samsung now this refrigerator is junk too. Id love my money back .

Our Kenmore Elite (production in 2016) has stopped cooling and freezing. It's a side by side.
795.51823.410. There is no error code. Service man came and says everything else appears to be working. It's doing everything BUT cooling and freezing. We just purchased our new home and loved the refrigerator in the home...when it worked. Now...it's too big to move, so it sits in our livingroom, while our "garage fridge" took it's place. Does this fit into a potential recall or what recourse is there for us?

We bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator in June of 2015 . In 2017 we needed it repaired and found out that it was really a LG with the Kenmore name. It is now 2020 and its not even 5 years old and we are in need of a repair again for the same problem, not cooling. We now found out from the repair person from Sears that it is the compressor and condenser which he told me was a problem directly from the factory. I have called Sears a number of times on both occasions and gotten no help and I have been hung up on. Please help!!

Bought my Kenmore Bottom Freezer refrigerator Model 7957249 on Dec. 24 2017. Compressor went out Nov.20, 2019. Waited 3 months for 2 repair appointments - sears will not cover the defective compressors because they only have 1 year warranty. I would have thought that a (formerly) good company would stand behind their product. They don't. Sears has lost a customer who has been loyal to them for the last 35 years. No wonder they are going bankrupt

I paid $2200 for this refrigerator and have only used it 11 months when it quit working. Was told there was nothing that they could do. I am TOTALLY disappointed in Sears. Will never, never, never buy a product from Sears/Kmart again. Wonder why they are going out of business....hmmm

We purchased the Kenmore Elite bottom Freezer refrigerator April 2015. Have been having issues with the freezer not keeping things frozen. This is not even 5 years for this unit. We have had two technicians out, one put freeon in but it seems to run all the time. Do these things run all the time?

I bought my kenmore refrigerator 3/2018, the compressor stopped working since last Friday 1/10/2020. the tech guy came and told me that all these kenmore series have major problems as they have LG compressors and they usually damaged after almost 2 year. Kenmore do warranty for only one year because they know that they are going to stop working. It is not even 2 years!!! I paid 2599 for a defective refrigerator and I am still paying for it in payments :( I had to threw everything away and I honestly don't know what to do as I cant afford another one right now!!!! HELP

Purchased a Kenmore Elite 3 door bottom freezer in 2015. Refrigerator stopped working over a week ago still waiting on Sears to replace compressor that is under warranty. My LG refrigerator went out on me about a week ago. I owned for about 5 years. I call LG tech support and did a smart diagnoses over the phone and they were able to know the refrigerator status. The LG repairman came today and check the fridge and concluded it is a compressor gone bad. He said LG has come out with a new linear compressor that should last longer but it is made in China. My old linear compressor was made in Korea but still failed. Anyway, I told support tech about class action lawsuit and any fridge with 10 years on the compressor warranty has 5 years labor and parts. Tech support check and schedule tech to come out today. So far I don't have any issue with LG tech support, my case was handle quickly with one phone call and it did not cost me a dime. I did not even have to show my receipt of purchase because the date on the compressor is less than 5 years. Every manufacture are the same but how they handle the issues or stand by their products determine customer loyalty. Wish everyone have your issue resolved as easy as mine.

I have a Kenmore Elite refrigerator bought 3 years ago. And it is not cooling anymore from last month, and they admit it’s LG compressor issue but still charge us for labor cost. We have been living with no refrigerator for one month.

I purchased a kenmore Elite refrigerator in August of 2015. The control panel went out the first year and then October 2, 2019 the compressor stopped working. I paid for a sears service person to come and assess the issue. They ordered a compressor which wasn’t the correct one and tried to reorder another after selling me the warranty plan. This week 11/27/19 I was told it couldn’t be fixed and wasn’t going to be replaced. Two service appointments were set up and no one showed up the latest being this week. I would like help from anyone ... this was a 3500.00 refrigerator.

I purchased an Elite Refrigerator made by LG November, 2017 and it stopped working September 23, 2019. I had purchased the extended warranty for a couple of hundred of dollars after spending over $2,000.00 for the refrigerator. I called Sears home warranty and they couldn't get to me for 11 days, I bitched loud enough for them to agree to let me hire a third party person if I could get someone sooner and I did. They came out and replaced the operation panel and it worked for a couple of hours - I called them back and he said the compressor was bad and would keep blowing everything. Sears came October 4th and said he had to order a new compressor, they came back on October 17th (2 men) worked for 5 hours and said they had to order more parts and now they can't seem to get the parts. As of today October 31 I am still out a refrigerator. I have reported to Maryland States Attorney for consumers. I am still fighting for a replacement. Sears should stand by their products, but they won't and even the repair man said he doesn't know why they keep selling these refrigerators because they are bad. Sears sold me a faulty refrigerator and they will not stand by their products and replace when they are faulty.

Got my Kenmore side by side Refrigerator on 4/20/15 and in Oct.2019 my LG compressor went out called Sears and I was told my Refrigerator had just gone out of warranty .I was told that I had got the extended warranty for three years and it had expired. I bought an LG refrigerator about 4 years ago, today the compressor died. The repairman said he sees at least one of these a week. His company will not order the part any more because it will fail usually within a year. He suggested we get in touch with LG and have them come and check it out. I haven't been able to find my receipt or extended warranty. I plan to visit the vendor an see if they can produce a copy for me. At the same time start looking for a new fridge. I noticed a lot of class action suits being started may have to sign up for one of those.

Purchased a Kenmore Elite (LG) in 2014. Refrigerator stopped working (cooling and freezing) October 2019. Sears repairman said it was the compressor. Paid $89 for service charge. Compressor is under warranty but I am told that the labor charge is going to be close to $300.

I just had my Kenmore refrigerator, Model# 79570323310 (purchased date 02/2016) with 3 year warranty from Sears just suddenly stop cooling after owning it less than 3 years and 7 months. I was made aware of that my Kenmore is a LG refrigerator and about the lawsuit when when I spoke to a local appliance repair technician which cost me $120.00. He said I need to call Sears because they maybe able assist with a lower cost of repair because their starts at $900 to $1300. He said that there’s a closed loop failure (Freon leaked out) or the compressor has failed and they would need repair at the shop which would take a week. I gave Sears a call which they charged me $100 again to get their service tech evaluation on the refrigerator failure and they gave me an appointment a week out which turned into two weeks before a tech was able to see and repair the refrigerator. My wife and I had to eat out during that time and the inconvenience trying to keep medicine cooled with an ice cooler. The thing that bother me the most was that their was no sense of urgency on Sears behalf. I had to keep calling Sears to confirm the appointment because this indeed was an emergency being with our fairly new refrigerator.

bought a Kenmore Elite in June of 2016 based on salesman's recommendation and product brochure advertising long life, high efficiency and quiet operation... Ha! October 2019 it died... stopped cooling in both refrigerator and the freezer... water leaking out of the ice maker as the ice melted. of course lost a fridge full of food. called Sears repair and was told 4 weeks lead time to get a tech to come look at it. called a local repair place, their tech showed up the next day and said "oh, Kenmore, i bet it is the LG compressor..." and after he opened it up, he was right. replaced the compressor and $959 dollars later it started to cool down again. will never buy anything "LG" in the future unless i read an awful lot of good news about how they have improved.

Purchased a kenmore elite i (795 .7283. 210) everything was good until 4 months ago when the ice maker stopped working. Then the fridge stopped cooling had someone come out and yup your compressor is shot. For what we paid for it I figured we would get a lot of years out of it. I bought most of my appliance from sears. Didn’t realize how many people have had the same problem with kenmore brand

I just had the same issue as Jayme. I purchased a Kenmore Elite, Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator August 2015 less than 5 years ago about two weeks ago my freezer stop working. I contacted Sears warranty they sent a technician out today 10/2/19 I was told it would cost me $495 to fix the problem. The technician said that the I needed a new condenser which would be no charge because that's covered under the manufacturer's warranty and labor I would be responsible for unless I purchased an additional warranty that would cover all the parts for $49 a month but it would cut the $495 in half.
How is this right? We are all having the same issue and they are charging outrageous fees for repair.

I purchased a Kenmore 24 cu. ft. French Door Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator October 11, 2014 less than 5 years ago about two weeks ago my freezer stop working. I contacted Sears warranty they sent a technician out today 9/23/19 I was told it would cost me $858.23 to fix the problem. The technician said that the I needed a new condenser which would be no charge because that's the only thing covered under the "warranty" but the other parts and labor I would be responsible for unless I purchased an additional warranty that would cover all the parts for $600 a year but it would cut the $858.23 in half.

I bought a Kenmore refrigerator from sears on 9-5-18 it was regular $700. BUT ON SALE FOR $500. It started making noises off and on, getting more frequent. I noticed that the food in the fridge was not staying cold, we'll eventually all my food went bad. I called sears and told them and they gave me another number to call, so I called and waited on hold for 30 minutes, I explained again about the fridge. The lady had a strong accent so it was hard to communicate with her, but she assured me the parts would be covered. The next day a service tech came and said the motor and the fan needed to be replaced and quoted a price of $425. + we had to pay for a $89. Serice call total of $514. The tech informed us that he had been running across this issue several times, stating that before or right at the 1 year manufactured warranty the LG motors were going bad. Well I thought I bought a reliable Kenmore fridge? I then called sears back and they basically said too bad because you didn't purchase the extended warranty. I didn't think I needed to buy it because most refrigerators last longer than a year??? I am not done yet I want the thing repaired for free my money back. I think they knew exactly what was going on and I am ready to fight for what I think is right. I can't pay $500. For a new refrigerator every year, someone has to take responsibility!!!!!

LG ice maker not working model LFX31925ST/00, after many issues, not making ice, ice dam in throat of dispenser and now the tray broke while rotating to release cubes, we no longer have a functioning ice maker

Purchased a Kenmore Elite 3 Door 9/14/17. On 8/22/19 I noticed that the ice maker was not making ice. The next day items in the freezer were beginning to defrost. Called Sears Repair on 8/24/19 and they gave us a date of 9/10/19 for the technician to "diagnose" the problem although we kept telling them that we were sure it was the compressor. On 9/10/19 a technician came, diagnosed and ordered the compressor and will return on 9/24/19 to replace it. That's 4 weeks to get this issue resolved, all the while we are living out of coolers and replacing ice every day. We have called Sears several times to get an earlier appointment, which they assured us was a possibility and were met with nothing but frustration. Same thing with their Complaint Dept., my husband spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with them, nothing was resolved. This is disgraceful and we will never purchase anything from Sears again. I feel everyone's pain. I want a new refrigerator, from all comments it seems that the problems have only begun.

Compressor should not fail after four years of basic household use. Repairmen recommended Whirlpool family of products but next time I will do even more research. I purchased a Kenmore refrigerator November 2017 and June 2019 the LG compressor failed. Since, it's not an Elite Sears will not cover repair. I would be out $1100 for repair. The only reason I did not get an Elite was I wanted smudge proof on the doors and the Elite did not have it at that time, everything other than the Elite tag is the same. I am now in the process of purchasing a new refrigerator! I will have over $4000 in refrigerators in two years. Complaint has been file with The State Attorney General.

Purchased my Kenmore refrigerator ( 795.72493.611 ) less than two years ago and it died. The repair said the compressor gone bad. Call Sears they would be able to ilook at it in a month. A MONTH! I spoke to a local repair shop and they've seen nothing but issues with the linear compressors. I saw Theresa recall on some of the LG and Kenmore refrigerator but it should be all with linear compressors.

My complaints is the same as the rest 2 weeks for a repair, then
24 hrs later no frig again. Lots of food gone to the garbage. Spending extra money on take out or restaurants. I don't want a
repair, I want money back for this lemon !!
If I cant get my frig working, or compensation, this class action
law suit is long winded. But I want compensated for a new

9 weeks to get our sears 2 and a half year old Kenmore Elite refrigerator repaired. I called scheduled they called rescheduled another week and a half out said the tech called in sick 1 day equals 10 days. Since it was in the middle of our vacations rescheduled, told them we had it checked out by another company, he said it was a compressor and only a sears tech could do the warranty on the compressor. Sears tech came out said it was the compressor, but didn't have the parts, he ordered them, rescheduled, he called to make sure the parts came in they had not, ordered them again, rescheduled, he called and they had arrived misspelled name right address. Postal lady knew us and the problems we were having so she delivered. Tech shows up installed, we waited 2 weeks on the advise of the tech, he showed us a letter that LG was replacing multiple compressor with single compressor seems this was a list of compressor they were having problems with. $450 to get it fixed under warranty make sure you get the new compressor, the old models may last a week to a couple of years according to the tech.

Purchased a LG side by side from Sears in 2017. Ice Maker has already quit working and the gear is still on and can't turn it off, so I'm sure that will burn up next. I thought we shopped and bought a product to last and had good reviews. Last LG product I ever purchase. I just want my ice maker fixed and tired of mopping water that leaks through the dispenser, that is going to ruin my new floors.

My LG refrigerator has been giving me an error code E Com and I had a sears tech come out to tell me there is a bad wire in the door and it would cost $1100 to replace the door. That is absurd the fridge is almost new. I see others have had the same problem...why isn't there a recall?

I purchased my Kenmore Elite, Grab and Go, Side by Side, Stainless steel, Counter Depth, model 51683, refrigerator around 7/17/2017 and the compressor went out on around August 9, 2019. This is around 2 years and 1 month. If the linear compressor goes out the first year, the limited warranty states that Sears will replace the compressor and cover all the workmanship. Else, they will cover the compressor I believe but the customer has to incur all other costs which can easily run into $500- up to a thousand +.
They know and knew about the bad compressor yet sold it to us and said customer be damned if you did not buy the extended warranty and I did not. I spent around $2000 because I thought this Kenmore, knowing it was made by LG, was such a good product. Both LG and Sears scammed us because they are not being accountable. They did not have a problem selling these products so they should not have had a problem bringing out the repairman and fixing all customers refrigerators at their cost.
For those that are interested there is an LG CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT pending. Unsure if it will be ruled to go to court. The lawyers are looking for litigants. And you can find and read about in on FACEBOOK or simply search ONLINE using the search argument "LG Class Action Lawsuit. I do not know if Sears will be implicated in it or not. (they should be).
I contacted Sears, Rob Barker, Vice President Customer Experience and the Sears "EXECUTIVE COMPLAINT" department. I did receive a call back, but the lady at the EC Department who called me has been simply giving me the runaround. She called wanting to know how she could help me yet she did not want to help me. She really did not care. She did Schedule and called out rigsa Sears repair person to look at my refrig (I had already called out a repair person and paid him who diagnosed a failed linear compressor) and pretended that I would not have to pay...but guess what? the Sears Serviceman asked me about payment...so that told me she lied. She is trying to hold me to the "Limited Warranty" whereby I am out of pocket on all costs except for the compressor. I say BUYERS BEWARE of paying to install that new compressor..
Many who did replace the compressor have wound up with more problems. Truth be known...."STAY AWAY FROM LG Refrigs.
I personally am not going to invest anymore money into my Kenmore. As of this date, I do not have a working refrigerator, I have lost all of my food. I tried to save it by buying coolers and spending $10-$12 a day for ice. I have given up on this because the ice lasts 24 hrs and less. And having to get the ice daily has started to add up. It has been 7 days and I am no close to a solution with Sears or LG..been talking with both of them. Sears really does not seem to care. As a matter of fact, they are dealing with BANKRUPTCY . There are hundreds if not thousands of people like us who are dealing with failed units (fRIGs) because of these bad compressors.
It appears that we are stuck but I do try to get the companies to do the right thing. We as a community need to apply a lot of pressure on them. There are literally thousands of us who have been victimized. , I too will never buy anther SEARS PRODUCT! There was a time when Sears products were good, reliable and would last seemingly forever. IT does seem that Long gone are those days.

I purchased a complete Kenmore Elite black stainless bundle (refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer) in 2017. The refrigerator alone was $2400 and now after just over 2 years the compressor is shot. Sears service said the soonest appointment we could get to "diagnose" the problem was 5 weeks out. We can't go 5 weeks without a refrigerator. Called local service technician and he confirmed compressor is bad and his advice was to junk this refrigerator and buy a different brand because the new compressor (which we would have to pay labor to install) would also most likely fail in 2 years. This is just WRONG that Sears knows of this problem, continues to sell these faulty products and does not take care of the customers when the products fail.

We, like many, many others have a failed LG French Door refrigerator after just 17 months. So far 2 compressors, the condenser and dryer and freon have all been replaced. Last compressor just Friday, 8/9/19. Since last visit no longer dispensed ice or water and makes loud noise...these last 3 are all new since last tech visit. Have to wait until the 19th for another tech to come out to "diagnose"issue and of course he will have no parts so that means more part orders and waiting for the next available appointment. This 10 day wait was supposed to be and "expedited" appointment. We have been without our refrigerator since the middle of June and I am at my wits end. If there is class action, what do we need to be part of it? I have lost all confidence in LG and their Sears repair techs. Unfortunately, they are the only certified techs in our area....seriously??

Bought a Sear Kenmore Elite 3 door Counter Depth. COMPRESSOR wnt out 10 weeks ago. 4 techs visited, ordered parts, (made by LG) came back replace said oarts and still is not working.
Last Repair (Sat. AUG 10) IT WORKED FOR 3 HOURS.. NEVER COOLED BELOW 6P DEG..
Todays repair guy was LOST IN THE WOODS. Had no clue as to where to start.

My LG French door refrigerator with bottom freezer bought from Sears November 2013 so it lasted almost 6 years BUT now I'm not eligible for the recent five year extension on covering the labor LG recently came out with. From everyone's comments it sounds like quite a hassle to try to get it repaired. I paid $2,760 for it; now I don't know whether to try to get it repaired or buy a new one. I live in a rural area so distance would probably increase the uncovered labor charges!

I bought a Kenmore Elite 73133 refrigerator in May 2015. This unit is made by LG. The linear compressor recently failed and according to my product manual the linear compressor is suppose to have a 10 year warrantee with free replacement. I am being charged for a replacement compressor. Sears Kenmore refuses to honor the warrantee specified in my owners manual.

This refigerator Kenmore elite Not even 2 years old and compressor already broke. Those korean compressors Kenmore is using are garbage. Don’t buy LG products.
Now I’m waiting for sears technician and it’s been a week and they keep taking their time.
I’m gonna be paying like $800 for labor.
Still they gonna put the same faulty compressor but new that’s gonna last 18 months.
Is it worth it?

My kenmore with lg compressor went out .3 years old.nothing but thecrun around from both sears and LG .3 weeks of phone calls and neither wants to take any resposibility .i dont think i will ever by another product from either company.customer service is terrible.

My Sears 3 door Model 74025, purchased 2015, $2,500; compressor died over a week ago; lost approx. $600 worth of fresh/frozen food; Sears sent repair tech out today, charged $109; he admitted he knew it would be compressor, but would not have one for 2 -3 weeks "if we are lucky". He suggested we buy a "back-up" fridge to keep in garage for cases like this, as refrigerators are not made like they used to be. In doing research, this compressor is known by both Sears & LG to be faulty and there have been previous class action lawsuits related to the compressor.

My experience is similar to others.... Our 4 yo LG side by side died due to faulty compressor. LG ran remote diagnostics using my cell found and found nothing wrong, even though I was standing in a puddle of defrosted food juices. They said we had the door open too long the day prior. Really? They obviously know the problems, yet lie to their customers. We are still waiting for repair. I'm being told the compressor is on back order so it could be a while. Meantime we are living out of a camping cooler and replacing the ice every day. No help has been offered to reimburse us for the cooler or the ice. Minimal amount has been offered for lost food, which doesn't even come close to what it actually costs. LG is totally unresponsive to the needs of their consumers.

I bought an Kenmore fridge from Sears January 2017 and by July 2019 I need a new fridge. My fridge barely lasted two years. Been going back and forth with Sears but basically I out almost $1000. I never perchase anything else from Sears or Kenmore/LG.

My Kenmore Elite refrigerator purchased July 2019 stopped working over 2 weeks (now going onto 3 weeks) ago and since I have extended warranty, I placed a call for service. It took over an hour to get through only to speak to someone outside of the US and with a heavy accent whom I could not understand. I finally somehow was able to get an appointment scheduled. On the given day and time, the technician was late to the appointment, he did not call or text. Upon arriving, he ran a few diagnostics and reset the circuit board. He mentioned these go bad all the time. After resetting the circuit board, he said it start working and would take 24-48 hours. I was just not convinced and asked him to order a new circuit board, which he reluctantly did. The part arrived but I had to wait few days before it would be installed. The technician came and this time, he was over 2 hours late, no call or text. He replaced the part and mentioned that it may not work and something major could be wrong. Same thing, if working, it would be 24-48 hours. It is not working. I have an appointment today but just got a call from the technician that he is delayed and may not come. Technician did not show, his reason was he was overbooked, he was tired and it was too late. I am beyond frustrated with Sears.

We also bought a Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator from Sears on Oct 11, 2011 on July 4th 2019 the compressor went out and was verified by our personal technician. We contacted Sears and were told that we had to call LG. Lg said we had to contact Sears. We had at least 10 calls between Sears as well as the same amount to LG. Then I did some investigating on my own and found the MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY LAW.

This law states that LG as the warranter of the compressor for 10 years they are required to service and replace for free. They cannot tie in service with Sears because it is PROHIBITED under Magnuson-Moss. We called Sears Corporate and told them that they needed to send us a compressor now and advised them of Magnuson-Moss. After back and forth we are being shipped a new compressor as I write this. Oh and you can have it serviced by who you want. No Sears visit for $99.00 to take a picture of the LG label and wait 3 weeks for the part to come and another $500.00-$1000.00 for installation.

My girlfriend started with a post about Sears on FACEBOOK. People believe me that they do monitor Facebook and will respond in kind from corporate. I hope that you find this as useful and good luck in your endeavors. Please look up Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act on the web, or contact a Consumer Protection Attorney for consultation.

We did this on our own and armed with the right information you can do it too.

Bought a L.G fridge freezer in November 2016. June 2019 does not work, lost everything in it. Called LG customer service right away. Took 1 week to get someone to look at it. Technician says it is the compressor and 3 other parts. Orders parts, parts come in 3 days, takes another week to get technician out to fix it. They cannot give you a set time. Have to stay in all day.
Also bought a stove in December 2016 and hope it works for a good long time as I have read they are giving out too and customers are being charged to have them repaired.
I hope LG and Sears is taken to task over this and have to honor a much longer warrantee and have a recall on all their defective appliances.

I bought my Kenmore grab and go refrigerator in 2016 pair 1600.dollars for it and now 3 years later it has quit completely. This makes it he second one I have bought in the past 10 years. I have bought Sears appliances ever since we got married. I called and was told they couldn’t get to me till next week and I would have to pay 99 dollars just for them coming out. After reading what everyone has gone thru, I don’t know if I want them to come out now. I can not pay another 500 to 1000 dollars. We are retired and just don’t have that much to waste on them. I think we would be better off going somewhere els. This has had me so worried and sick to think how low Sears has got.

The food heated up and I have thrown everything out as it could be dangerous to consume. The compressor is supposed to be under warranty for 10 years, but I have heard complaints that there is $150 dollar service fee for the technician to come out and confirm the issue is the compressor. Then several weeks for the part to come in and then $300 or more to pay the labor for installation of the warranted part (I did not buy the extended service plan at the time of purchase) and then potential additional service issues and additional compressor failures after this is repaired. Is this covered under the recall? I am pretty sure I just got rooked on a lemon model and manufacturer compressor issue that has effected numerous consumers and should be a class action suit if not recalled and replaced. I always bought appliances from Sears and even worked at one location as one point. I am highly disturbed by this. I paid for a premium appliance to get a better value and longevity of my appliance and it hasn't lasted 3 years of normal use.

We bought an LG french door and 6/7/19 the compressor went out. After many phone calls daily to LG and them trying to fix it over the phone I lost hundreds of dollars in food. It took weeks to get a repair man here and he diagnosed the bad compressor and said he would have to order it and wouldn't be able to come back for another 2 weeks (due to that was the first available appt.). Well he came back today and told us the wrong compressor was sent (wrong number on the compressor) and he would have to re-order the correct one and wouldn't be able to come back until 7/25/19. I have never been so disgusted with the lack of a company trying to resolve an issue. 1ST they sell a faulty product, then they send out a repair company of 3 they use that then orders the wrong part and yet I am the one still suffering thru the summer without. They could have sent a new one by the time this 8 weeks expires and pray this gets resolved then! Worst experience ever with customer service!!!

I have a kenmore/LG trio refrigerator purchased in 2016. I just had to pay 500 for a new inverter- after waiting more than 2 weeks for the part, I have to pay another 250 for another board that the new inverter says was not working. repair company is saying that even that may not fix the unit as it may need a compressor. Great after 2.5 I will have spent almost as much to fix it as it cost in the first place.

Sears tech just came out - I could literally copy and paste the response made by martin polland. We purchased May of 2016 3 years and 1 month later compressor dies. Tech put his hand on the compressor and said it was way too hot. Set up the system and said there is no pressure. Estimate he gave me for parts and labor is $1,100. 795.51833.411 Side by Side Kenmore Elite Compressor is made by LG Compressor is the LG-FLB075LANA (R134a- Linear Compressor)

the sears teck. put his hand on the compressor and said the cost to repair would be $800. It took him all of 10 minutes, he said there is a leak in the sealed system. I asked him to check for the leak he said It would be a waist of time because the leak was very small.

I purchased the whole Elite Series of Kenmore appliances in 2014 along with the extended warranties and in December 2018 while cooking Christmas Dinners my oven went completely out so far I have had to fix the stove myself because sears informed me they had no longer anyone in my area to repair it and everyone wants to charge an arm and a leg so I followed a u tube video and narrowed it down to the electronic board and fix it for a little over $500 and now in May 2019 my refrigerator all of a sudden quit working overnight. I still have the paper affixed to the inside of the fridge. It is freaking brand new and I paid some man over $300 for 4.5 hrs and paid $330 for a new control board to try and diagnose the problem and it seems that its not the control board or the fan. It's the compressor . This is freaking pitiful!!! I still have no refrigerator. Poor appliances. Do not purchase Kenmore or LG.

my Kenmore Pro refrigerator has broken 6 times in 1 year. First a compressor at under 2 years (which by the way took Sears 2 months to obtain a new part!) , then another compressor, then evaporator parts... Twice the technician installed the parts and the fridge still doesn't work! I contacted our local news agency as this is just ridiculous... worst product ever and worst customer service ever.

I purchased my frig Feb. 2015. Kenmore Elite with LG technology. Diagnosed with failed sealed system and compressor. LG is willing to fix it per our repair serviceman but Sears is unwilling to release the serial number so LG can authorize a work order number. Sears states we have to use their technician or the manufacturer warranty is null in void. We made an appointment with Sears technician but they failed to show up. The next appointment was 3 weeks away so we hired a repair service that came out much quicker. We did not purchase a Sears service agreement so how can they just null in void a manufacture warranty for the parts contained in the frig by another company?

Bought a package sunday special. Elite Fridge, Oven, Microwave and Dishwasher. All have failed except oven. Fridge quits cooling and freezing. Stuck @ $1000.00 in parts and labor not including the lost food and suffering. Our service tech from a local LG company is baffeled. Let me know if a lawsuit if being filed.

We also purchased a Kenmore Elite three door refrigerator, model No. 795.74023.411 on 8/7/2015. Last year (5/18) we had to replace the compressor and condenser. Fortunately, it was still under warranty but it still cost $469 for the labor, etc.

Our refrigerator went out again today due to the same problem. I have been waiting on hold for about an hour to schedule a technician, and it will probably take about two weeks for the first step and another 2 weeks to install the part.

This is so frustrating and I feel like Sears is exhorting labor funds for faulty appliances and parts!

I bought a Kenmore Elite 12/04/2015 for $2,872.58. I had the 3 year extended warranty which expired 12/07/2018. In May 2019 the compressor leaked out all the Freon. Call Sears they want money and get in a monthly paying program to get service contract. I have model#
79574025.411. Also I have heard that these were build in Korea and they were meant to have butane not the Freon. LG and Kenmore need to be made accountable. Shame on them!

Does anyone know if the LFXS30766 model included in this? I purchased this POS from a Sears store and it failed three months in and has continued to fail. The extended warranty has expired so now I am paying out of pocket for the same repairs. LG nor Sears will act. Sears will not because they know that LG knows there is a defect in the compressor. LG wants to pass along the fault to the place of purchase. Either way it is bad business practice and the consumer needs relief.

Approximately six years ago, we purchased a complete kitchen package of Kenmore Elite products - refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and stove. We have had issues with the microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator - especially the refrigerator. We are currently without and we called Sears thinking it might be a warranty repair. We were put on the emergency list - that means a service repairman will be out in a week - unbelievable. No wonder Sears went bankrupt. I am in if there is a class action suit.

I have a house full of lg appliances and have had problems with all of them resulting in repair or replacement.
The first being a he front load washer which after just a couple years the spider arm on the back of the drum completely corroded/rotted and broke. I then paid for extended warranty through sears and scheduled a day for repair tech to come to my house. I had to take a day off of work as they can not give you a specific time for appointment but say the service tech will arrive between 9am and 4 pm. So the day I took off for the scheduled appointment I was outside of my home and missed a phone call when I got in and reviewed my messages it was the repair tech stating he was calling to confirm the appointment and if I don’t call him back within 10 min to confirm, he would have to reschedule . I immediately called back, however no answer and tech never showed up.
I then called and had appointment rescheduled only to lose another days pay. The tech tore apart the washer took weeks for the parts to come in and he installed new drum and spider, within 1.5 yrs the new spider completely corroded and broke
I then replaced the front loader with whirlpool model. Let me just say I co Robie to use a 35yr old top loader as back up in my basement without any issues.
In regards to the fridge. I came home to soaking wet floors beneath my fridge and it took a while to figure out where the water was coming from that ruined my wood flooring.
Long story short, it was the ice maker failing to dump the ice cubes from the tray which I believe was related to the ice tray mold heating element not working. When the tray would turn to dump the cubes would not fall out. When the tray rotated back to the position to fill with water the water would begin its attempt to fill the tray, however the ice cubes from previous cycle were
Still in the tray causing all the water to pour across the ice tray/cubes and into the freezer and out on the floor. I have since disconnected the ice maker and have been filling ice trays the old fashioned way. Someday when I get the extra $150-220 I will order the new replacement ice maker after I have replaced the warped flooring.
If there are any class action suits related to any of these issues or other junk lg products such as oven, microwave, and dryer, please alert me .

My LG refrigerator has died twice (compressor failed twice) withing 4 years since it was purchased. AVOID BUYING LG products. It's a scam.... they offer their repair service which will cost you $300 each time to repair... in my case it is every year thing and LG customer care is not willing to help in any way.

I am currently in the same situation. I purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator from Sears on July 2016 for $2300 (Model 795.74023.411). Just a month ago it stopped working. I have been calling every week trying to schedule a Technician to check it out. Because the fridge is still under warranty in order for the parts to be covered I was told a Sear Technician needed to diagnose it. Every time I call I get the run around between departments. It is just ridiculous how much I have had to go through to get a technician. Never buying a Sears, Kenmore, LG product!

I bought a Kenmore Elite 3 door refrigerator in 2012 (model 795.72043.110) and last week it stopped cooling. I pulled off the back cover and it has an LG compressor. I didn't spend Kenmore Elite money to get an LG but that's a different story. I talked to a local repair guy who said that he heard there is now a recall on these compressors but I can't find anything. He also said that since Sears has to replace the compressor since it is under warranty, they overcharge on the labor to offset it. Sears wanted $300 more for labor costs than my local guy. Guess how much a new compressor is? $300. I spent 3 hours on the phone getting bounced between Kenmore, Sears and LG and my call "dropped" four different times. They know they have a bad design, yet they don't stand behind it and just replace it with the same crappy compressor. The local guy told me that I should expect the new compressor to last 3-5 years. Ridiculous!!! Please add me if/when a lawsuit comes up.

We purchased a Kenmore Elite Grab and Go refrigerator from Sears in April of 2015. Last week our ice maker stopped working, and then a few days later the frig and freezer both stopped working. We contacted sears and was told that our warranty had expired. Sears scheduled a repair man to come out the following week, and offered us a warranty plan stating that we could pay $49 a month, with a $99 deductible, with parts covered and labor for up to $500. We accepted the plan. Even then because Sears does not do repairs on the weekend, therefore we had to spend $160 on a small freezer to salvage as much of our frozen food as possible. The following Monday we waited for the repair man for most of the day. Our appointment time was between 1pm and 5pm. The Sears repair man did not show up until around 6pm. He then informed us that our compressor was bad and that it would take a week for the repair work to be done. He then told us that we were expected to pay $99 for the visit, plus $146 dollars because the repair job exceeded the $500 limit. This information was slightly different from what we had been told by the person who sold us the warranty plan. When we called back a different representative told us that Sears only covers up to $500 for the total repair job. When I complained about the misinformation the warranty person on the phone offered me $500 towards the purchase of a new refrigerator from Sears. Is he kidding. Our frig is only 4 years old! To add insult to injury, the repair person told us "Your compressor is an LG compressor and these things are dropping like flies". When I questioned him about the brand of the replacement part, he informed us that he would be replacing the compressor with another LG compressor. I have been on the phone with Sears several times the past few days complaining about my refrigerator not working. Twice the warranty person on the phone attempted to schedule a walk through to sell us a new AC unit. Yet its been a week and our refrigerator still does not work. In addition to a small freezer we had to go out last night to purchase a small refrigerator. I called the corporate office this morning and was sent back to the same customer service number. Its frustrating because the English of the people we spoke with is not very good. The agents sound very rehearsed and appear to experts at not solving your problems.

OMG, done with sears. It took them two weeks to diagnose and send parts to install new condenser and compressor, and then they failed to show up for my appointment and gave me a new appointment 10 days later!! We paid 3rd party to come and install parts and the new compressor was dead!! Customer service is just a bunch of dopes and you never get anywhere. Going out to buy a new refrigerator today, and I can assure you it wont be Kenmore or LG!!!!

I have the LG Studio, serial number LSFXC2476S, which I purchased on 8/27/16. Went out of town to come home to a putrid smelling home, because the unit stopped cooling and spoiled all of my food , fridge and freezer, at a minimum over $500 worth of food. Yet my temp reading still said -3 / 33.... but hot as all get out. Never would I thought that an Premium fridge such as this would stop working less than 3 yrs after purchase. Now I'm reading about faulty compressors and other things. I never received a recall notice or anything. I really believe this is unacceptable and something should be done. I have a warranty but they will get back to me within 2days.... yes I said 2days....so what am I supposed to do in the meantime. Unbelievable!

I purchased a Kenmore Elite (79575043610) when I built my house. The builder that did my house had Sears as the appliance supplier unfortunately. The refrigerator completely stopped cooling 1 year and 5 days after purchase.
I contacted Sears to have a diagnosis done. The tech came out and told me the control board needed to be replaced and it would be $700. Having done research I knew it was likely the compressor given the experiences everyone else has had. He also gave me some story about my cabinets affecting the air flow, which was total BS. There is more than enough space between the refrigerator and the cabinetry around it. After a lot of back and forth I told him to leave and did not want him to replace the control board.
I contacted an appliance repair man who came out and he immediately said it was the compressor. He laughed when I told him that Sears wanted to replace the control board.
The bottom line is the compressor is the only thing under warranty so they are going to try every other component at the customers expense before ever admitting it was the compressor.
It's clear why they are going out of business. I am now looking at having a different brand of compressor put in which should hopefully solve my issue. But it's beyond to pay $2500 for a refrigerator that lasts 1 year. Ridiculous.
When there is inevitably a class action lawsuit sign me up.

Our refrigerator (model # LMXS30776S) is just over 3 1/2 years old, and this will now be the 7th time we've had it fail. Just last month, we had to have the ice maker replaced because of a leak. Five months ago, the evaporator, drier and ice maker assemblies were replaced as it was not cooling. The year before that we had to have the compressor and evaporator replaced along with a repair to the ice maker, losing a vast majority of our food in the process. Now, not only is the ice maker not working, but the fridge won't cool below 52 degrees. Based on all of the complaints and class action lawsuits that have surfaced, this is a widespread problem that needs to be remedied. History would suggest that we will be in the same position in another 6 months down the road.
This isn't just about our personal situation. Based on all the complaints filed through different media outlets, this has affected thousands, if not tens of thousands of consumers. LG needs to be held liable for the damages they have caused.

Refrigerator delivered, as a replacement for same model, on 5/23/15. This Refrigerator quit working on 2/23/19.
Sears repair man came 2/25/19. Said problem was compressor, that compressor was covered under warranty, but labor to replace would be $445.00. Totally not acceptable. This replacement refrigerator was to replace same model that was broken for more than a month and Sears could not figure out how to fix it. American Express took the money back from Sears for the unfixable refrigerator and that is when Sears decided to replace the refrigerator with this one that just quit working.
I had another repair call on this refrigerator not long after I received it because the ice and water dispensers were not working. I refused the large estimate to fix it, but a few days later The ice and water dispensers began working again. Now, the whole refrigerator has quit working.

November 2012 I purchased a Kenmore Elite French door refrigerator model 795.71053.014. November 2018 it just stopped cooling. I called Sears, paid the $90 to have repair tech come out. He said, "It's out of Freon, they all so that" He proceeded to tell my husband that it's and LG product and a piece of crap. He said $1200 to repair it. I called Sears and they said they have to fix everything it could be before they would replace compressor!! This is a $2500+ refrigerator that make it exactly 6 years. The compressor is the only part still under warranty. I want it replaced or repaired. How can I find help?

My husband purchased Kenmore Elite #795.72483.410 in Oct 2015 for my birthday . The refrigerator just made 3 years old and has conked out. My husband doesn’t understand how I could not have known this thing was a P.O.S before we purchased as I research everything down to the wire. I discover that this KENMORE ELITE name, which I know and trust and buy for its quality and performance and durability/dependability , is just on the outside when it’s actually an LG. I AM. So disappointed, being a stroke survivor on a. VERY limited income. LG KNOWN by another name...KENMORE ELITE.

On October 13, 2017, we purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator and on September 26, the compressor died. After many calls, the technician finally confirmed in late October that the compressor was dead and she ordered the parts. Fast forward to January 28, when the parts arrived, the technician installed the new compressor. After 2 days, the unit was still not cooling. Jan 20, 2018 - just called for another service call to have it repaired and the next available service date is March 13, 2019. Obviously, we had to spend another $2400 for a new LG as the Kenmore is now a "permanent fixture" in the garage.Thank goodness I bought a Protection Agreement, so the major frustration is that this situation has gone on for almost 6 months. Good thing Sears is in bankruptcy, as I will never buy another Sears product.

My LG French Door Refrigerator is 3 years old. It just stopped cooling. We tried cleaning the coils and is still didn't work. We called different repair places in the area and no will work on LG Refrigerators. We called Sears and they will work on them, but we have to wait a month and a half for a repairman to come out. It's a good thing we have a little frig in our garage. We have already been without a frig in the house for two weeks. How can I get in on this lawsuit. My frig model is LFXS30766/86. It is pretty bad when no one will work on them. The repair places around here stopped because they would replace parts and the frig still didn't work.

Our LG is 2 years old. Compressor went out. Lost all of our food. Repairmen in area declined to work on them (recommended by LG) and now we are waiting on one to travel over 3 hours to our home to replace the compressor, saying that it is the problem. At first they were going to give us a new one and now they have decided that we don't need a fridge for another week (3 weeks total). What is going on? If they know that it has a problem, why not pull all of them and make the correct part replacement before selling them. Last LG appliance I will buy. One LG rep was as rude as rude could be.

Purchased a Kenmore Elite, model 79574023412 in 2016. A french door, bottom freezer made by LG, which I didn't know or I wouldn't have bought it. It replaced a "cheap" fridge that was still working 10 years after we bought it. However in less than two years the compressor died on our new expensive Kenmore elite. Due to the volume of these fridges dying it took 6 weeks to even get a sears repairmen to come look at it and another 6 weeks to get the parts in due to the backorder backlog. 3 months without a fridge! We lived out of coolers for 2 weeks until a "cheap" fridge we purchased arrived.

Eventually the kenmore elite was fixed. However yesterday, just 4 months later it has died again. Now waiting for the repairmen again. Thankfully we still have that backup fridge to use.

Do not buy Kenmore Elite or LG french door bottom freezer fridges. They are complete lemons! Why isn't there a new class action to refund everyone that purchases these piles of garbage? Sears is bankrupt, but Kenmore and LG have responsibility.

Our fridge went out 1 year 5 months after we bought it. It also was the compressor. Not covered under the warranty which is good for 1 year. Lg compressor has a 7 year warranty but not when it has a kenmore label on it. 1000 dollars to have it fix. 795.72493.611 was the model number.

Purchased Kenmore Elite 3 door refrigerator Model# 795.73133.410 October 2016 paid $2010 on sale from Sears. On November 13,2018 ice maker stopped working and food in freezer started thaw Out. Used troubleshooting guide and was able to get ice maker to turn over ice and reset the settings as guide suggested freezer started freezing again.
The next morning everything in freezer was thawed out. Threw out all food in refrigerator and now is not cooling at all. Seems like it cools some but no air flowing. Called sears on November 15,2018 thinking could use sears connect for diagnostics. Was told refrigerator no longer under warranty and would need to pay $99 for repair diagnostics. Was told it would be a week for someone to come out. I believe this model from what I am reading under reviews needs to be a part of this lawsuit. My wife just losther job and not sure how I will pay for repairs, bought a Kenmore because I knew it was a good product did not know I was buying an LG.

Lights not turning off in my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator model# 79577563600 causing the plastic cover to melt. Light bulbs filled with smoke and fixture is burnt in color! Have photos. We were NEVER given a recall notice by Sears for them to come and correct this dangerous matter that they knew about. Just found out about this recall online now.

My french door kenmore elite is 2 years old. Compressor went out made by LG! There has been multiple recalls, lawsuits etc for years. But Kenmore still out them in their frig. Now I am without frig for 4 days because they cant co.e sooner. BS. This thing cost a small fortune. What can I do? I even tried to get the part myself. Most sears parts places have closed down

I purchased my LG Refrigerator late December 2017 it was pu you in service 1/1/2017 Model No. LFXS24623S about 4 months later the Ice Maker stopped working and was replaced. In September 2018 the Ice Maker and Water Dispenser stopped working I called in to my LG Warranty amount and was given Claim #1403xxxx about an hour later my wife told me everything in the Freezer was thawed I called back added that to the problem. It is now November 7,2018 a Sears repairman came out after another Service Company was out 3 times and they got my water dispenser working but the unit still wasn’t cooling they said that another complaint file would have to be started before they could replace the defective compressor. I need help

Purchased Kenmore Elite model # 795.72483.411 refrigerator in 2/17, within 6 months the fan motor was making a noise due to ice forming on the back of the freezer. Repairman came and steamed all of the ice off of the back and put it back together again. I now have had 3 other service calls all 4-6 months a part for the same issue. They tell me there is no recall for this issue. The fan motor noise becomes so loud you cannot carry on a conversation while standing next to it. The last repairman said to just remove everything and turn it off and let it sit for 24 hours while the ice melts. What??? It is now doing it again for the 5th time and I do not want to pay for another service call. So I guess I will have to unload it for the second time and wait 24 hours. How annoying for a $3000 refrigerator! Sears only offered a 20% discount for the service and I am sure I will have to go back thru the whole ordeal each and every time this happens. I would gladly push this refrigerator to the curb. DO NOT PURCHASE this refrigerator. Sears has TERRIBLE customer service.

My Kenmore Elite is less than 4 years old & has broken for the 3rd time. First a recall, then the ice maker, now it produces no cold air at all. Was told the compressor overheated & refrigerant leaked out. After 3 phone calls to Sears, over an hour of time & getting transferred continuously & speaking with at least 7 people, I’ve been told different things & now I’m told the parts won’t be covered even though my written warranty says 7 years on the compressor. From reading all these comments, the compressor is obviously an issue & should be recalled!

I own a Kenmore Refrigerator Model Number 10651763510, Serial Number HR662609457, bought in March 10, 2017. The Refrigerator Door Hinge Bushing top door base broke. I look in the Parts Diagrams model, in Internet, and the top door frame or door cover, is not available as a part, the door assemble have to be order. is my concern that the Door Hinge Bushing top door base plastic bracket, cover or part, have broke in 22 month period used. I do not think that 22 month of used is he live time fort that part. My question is, it is a recall for that door condition.
The cost was $1,560.99 and the repair cost is $607.49 the door and on estimate of $100.00 installation, in Puerto Rico. The total repair cost is $706.49 which is 45% of the total Refrigerator Cost, I have to think it over to repair or buy a new one, if it is not a manufacture part recall.

We just returned this morning 9/24/2018 from weekend away to a non-working LG fridge. We have no idea how long the fridge has been off, but the entire house stinks. The fridge is just 6 months old, still under LG warranty. We put a thermometer in the fridge and freezer. Both read 60' Fahrenheit. We have photos of the thermometers and of all the defrosted food. The fridge stinks and we have lost over $1000 of food. We were on the phone with Sears and LG customer service in Alabama for over 2 hours. LG has scheduled repair FOUR days from now. When asked what do we do to feed our family of five until then, we were told "we can give you a curtesy $!20 to refund the food loss." When we stated the food loss is over $1000, the rep said "I never said we would cover the food loss, just help with it."

When asked what will be done about the stink (and we manage properties so understand how difficult it is to remove the stink from rotten food in a fridge) we were told "that will take care of itself" which is absolutely not true.

There are so many untruths here and so little responsibility taken by this company. We are completely flabbergasted.

We now have hungry kids, a stinky fridge and house, and paid thousands for what we thought was a reliable appliance.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Bottom-Mount refrigerators (7954015411) in March 2016 from the local Sears store in Henrico, Va. I had an independent appliance repairman come on Sunday September 9, 2018. He informed me the compressor needed to be replaced at a total cost of $850.00. Also, he informed me that the condenser was emitting a lot of heat. Through the model number he determined it was made by LG in South Korea. Not knowing how long the new compressor would last, I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator. He suggested that I do not buy the LG and Samsung refrigerators and I agreed.

15 months after my purchase of my Kenmore Elite (Coldspot) Model # 106.51149112 Serial # HR30402756, we started having issues. We purchased the extended warranty through Sears. It covered everything. Every part was replaced, Twice, if not more. We purchased it again the following year, and again. The Sears techs come out, don't know the issue, and replace almost every part, the part being an "unoriginal" fails again, and again, and they keep charging labor and parts, and coming and repairing the same part. It is now 5th year, and I give up. I am not spending another penny on purchasing warranties, or hiring private company technicians to fix this junk. Sears sells JUNK and only warranty it for first 12 months, after that lapses, they push you towards purchasing extended warranty, and abuse the protection to their benefit. It's a scam to sell off the lemon appliances, and I fell in the trap, and now I'm stuck with an appliance which needs quarterly maintenance and repairs. I was better off purchasing a real appliance from Lowe's after the first year this gave me problems. Pay a few hundred dollars more and get from Lowe's -- because Sears and KMart only sell lemons!

LG model LFX29927ST. Serial # 305KRZH1U677 We purchased this French door refrigerator from a local furniture store currently out of business in 2014. Within 3 years the compressor went bad. Called LG who sent out a repairman a week or so later. He replaced the compressor which cost me around $350. For labor. Within the week I had to call LG once again because it had stopped cooling and they sent another repairman out from Sears who said it needed a condensor as well. Ordered it and another week until the origional repair guy came back and replaced the condensor. This guy informed me this is typical for these LG refrigerators and he does this work at least 1-2 times a week and he said don't be surprised if the replacement doesn't do the same thing because they have not fixed the problem in the replacements. He also informed me that if it was also bad I would still have to pay the labor cost again to have it fixed. So we pray it holds out because that's a chunk of change that we just don't have at the drop of a hat. I already paid around $2400 for the refrigerator. I would really like to be part of any law suit against LG to try to recoup some of our money.

I purchased a LG, French door-in-door, bottom freezer Refrigerator; model # LFXS 24663S, in June of 2015. Last month the freezer stopped working and the ice maker stopped working. I've read a lot of complaints (on facebook ) about these refrigerators breaking down; And how LG has been giving people the run-around.

These refrigerators cost a lot , not to forget the food lost, we're out a lot of money! And LG doesn't care. They should be seriously punished for knowingly putting out defective appliances. Bottom line, I want my $1,979.00. + $350.00 in food cost back!

I purchased a Kenmore (now I'm being told it is an LG,although all material states Kenmore) in October 2017. On Friday 8/10/2018 I came home to an entire fridge and freezer of melted spoiled food. I called Sears Service Saturday and was advised they would send a tech on 8/24. It is still covered under manufactures warranty but does not cover food loss. I freaked out and after much research and 100's of calls had a tech come out on 8/14. They advised me that this is a known issue and it is the compressor. No guarantee it will not break again and the part will not be here until 8/29. This is absolutely unacceptable that this company is not forced to make things right and recall these faulty appliances.

Bought Kenmore Elite refrigerator September 2016. Compressor went out in under 2 years. Only part is covered under warranty. Will cost upwards of $900 to be fixed not counting all the food that was lost and money being spent eating out all meals. I have read so many with the same experience! . Sears service informed me that they don't have any service tech. In my state Delaware. I find this unacceptable and unethical too sell products with no technical assistance available in the state. I'm supposed to have a tech on Saturday coming from Chesapeake Virginia. I have to stay home all day (8) hour window, needless to say I have to throw all meats at a substantial cost to me. I will be purchasing any KENMORE products in the future.

Obviously, nothing has been done to resolve this problems over the years. I too, bought a Kenmore Elite (really LG ) Trio refrigerator, with bottom freezer, in April 2015. Now it's July, 2018. The compressor went bad. 3 years from a fridge. The manufacturer and seller have known about these faulty compressors for OVER A DECADE! You can see by looking online about the failures over and over again. These refrigerators are very expensive to purchase, yet for all these years, nothing has been done to redesign or obviously confront this problem. But I'm sure LG and Sears has raked in Billion of dollars selling these pieces of junk. What scam on the American Consumer this has become. If you are thinking of buying a new fridge, beware of these models for sure. Nothing but heartbreak and compressor failure with these babies. I wish I would have known better.

We spent $2800 for an LG fridge. Compressor went out 18 months later. Called LG and was given the name of repair company. Spent $629 for labor on repairs (compressor was under warranty). Called LG back to see if they would compensate the labor costs based on the age of the device. Was told by LG that the company (which they referred) I called for repairs was not an LG authorized company.

Very disappointed. Hoping our other 4 LG appliances fair better!

I purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator in November of 2015. The compressor went out in October of 2017. We were left with over $300 worth of spoiled food that we were never compensated for, even though the extended warranty claims to cover lost food. It is now July 2018 and the refrigerator has gone out again! It's been 9 days since we called to put in a claim to have the refrigerator repaired and they have not sent out a tech who can diagnose the issue. We are now dealing with another refrigerator full of spoiled food! In talking with the tech who came in 2017, he said that the Kenmore Elite refrigerators have had many issues with the compressors failing and that Kenmore and LG are aware of it! I've never paid as much for a refrigerator as I did for this one and I've never had any issues with any other refrigerator that I have ever owned but this one! THIS THING IS A LEMON! Kenmore/LG are aware of it and they need to replace these units!

Purchased grab-n-go kenmore elite in June 2016 for @ 2000 795-79033.411. ( on sale with bundle appliances) in July 2018 it quit working.lost all my food. Called sears and “ emergency “ appointment set up for week later! Paid 50.00 for tech ( from another company) to tell me couldn’t be fixed, was sealed system failure. 2nd tech ( from another company) said same thing but didn’t charge me. We purchased a Kenmore Elite (LG Mfrd) French Door, Freezer on the bottom refrigerator in April 2015, with a 3 year warranty. Last Monday, 7/9/18 the unit failed and stopped cooling, causing both the refrigerated and freezer sections to actually get warmer than room temperature. Called Sear Service and was told the soonest someone could come out was 5 days later! Needless to say all the food was lost. Not having any faith in Sears any longer, I had an Abt Service Tech come out, and the unit was diagnosed as having a sealed system compressor failure which would cost between $1200 to $1500 to repair! I have been on the phone at least 24 hours, transferred to one person after the other from the phillipines to the usa. telling they didn't have a supervisor. on duty. Given me the answer we don't a supervisor on duty..
I have been without a refrigerator freezer for approximately 3 weeks. And yes I had smoke and did not realize where it was coming from
When one morning 5/15/2018 and noticed the milk was warm and water was on the floor. looked at freezer and all the food was soft.
The freezer had gone bad long before I knew about it. I called the service on May 15 and they arranged an appt on May 22. I rescheduled on sun May 17 received may 18.
Bad compressor and another part. received the parts on Thursday May 21.
NOW THE REAL PRROBLEM HAS BEGAIN... The valve was not ordered and is not available. and sears cannot find the part number. I have called LG and asked for the part number and Jenny man, Phillipines, stated she was not allowed not give me the information nor was allowed to give me an answer if she was on the phillipines.
You sold me a lemon and had no intention of mentioning to keep from loosing a lot of money.
I like my refrigerator,, although if you cannot fix it I would like to exchange for same product.
IF that is too much to ask I will go to an attorney ;

My Kenmore Elite model 745 74022 410 has continual
problems. At two months the circuit board was replaced, at present am awaiting compressor and repair to take place.
With the lost of food and no refridgerator or freezer it gets expensive for repairs not to mention incovenience. A Sears customer for many years was hoping for a better product.

I bought a Kenmore grab-and-go Elite in 2016 just a few days ago my compressor failed on it which is made by LG looking over the comments before mine I see that there is a widespread problem with the compressors used in all types of fridges that's Sears associated with I now and being forced to purchase an extended 2 year warranty to go on top of my 5-year Master protection plan because my compressor that is going to be replaced under the warranty on the 12th of this month will be guaranteed to go out within 2 months of my master service plan expiring so I have no choice but to pay $500 plus to get an additional 2 years just so I know this repair will last more than two and a half years it's not right for me to have to do this the only reason I have a master protection plan through Sears is because I spent close to $15,000 in a single transaction and I get sold junk like this... I have argued until I'm blue in the face with a thousand Representatives through Sears LG and Sears Kenmore Department which are all pretty much tied together and they are making it where you have to replace your fridge within 3 years every three years because they are trying to drum up business bye making us customers that stuck with them through the possible closures and shutting down of all locations we get treated like this and then to kick me while I'm down they offer me $160 in points on my Shop Your Way account to put towards a mini fridge to get me by until the repairs can be done 2 weeks later but there are no fridges available whatsoever on Sears website for my town that will make it to the store or to my house before my fridge will be repaired so to add insult to injury they give me $160 I can't use which infuriates me even more and being told when I bought the items that they would last me 15 plus years but yet they already knew the refrigerator wood fell within the first 3 years but proceeded to tell me it would last me 15 plus years and nobody can step up to the plate and make this right I asked for a replacement fridge not a repair 2 weeks later because of the fact that there will be a smell that develops from my fridge sitting not being used for over 2 weeks but yet the charges that I would have to pay if it wasn't covered under warranty would be $950 plus they gave me $300 towards food loss and that hundred and sixty dollars but to just give me a new fridge of the same model which is now reduced in price by half due to all it's bad reviews it's only $1,200 now but do the math they will spend $100 more not to give me a new fridge that's BS and I hope that the right person sees this post and brings all this to light on a national level because Sears needs to be shut down and penalized 4 their wrongdoing and lying and misleading and forcefully making customers K obscene amount of money for repairs my repair states that the compressor is $424.91 but if I were to order it on the site myself and get it shipped to me it's only $350 why can anybody explain because of the fact that they are cheating every system that they possibly can so those of you who had to pay for their repairs I would go back and look how much they charged you and how much the parts actually are because there's about $100 in difference between all of their costs from the repair guy "not including labor" versus their own website!!! They should not be allowed to sell these products stating that they will last 15-plus years when they know they will only last a minimum of three years it's against the law and I hope that this gets brought to light and all of us customers who got duped into believing that we had a good product will be justified!!!

In April 2015,we purchased a Kenmore Elite Grab n Go refrigerator. I purchased the 3 year extended warranty with Sears. In March of 2016, a part failed that caused things in the fridge part to reeze and the freezer thawed. The part was backordered. We were able to finally get a replacement fridge in June 2016. On May 31, 2018 I started hearing an intermittent buzzing in the freezer area. By the next day, the freezer was thawing and the fridge was no longer cold. We have had this unit for just under 2 years. I called and was informed that my warranty expired on april 30, 2018. I had a service person come out and diagnosed it as a failed compressor. The technician referred me to the front page of the appliance manual which says the xo.preasor is warrantied for 10 years. I called the number and was taken back to Sears who said that the fridge is not under warranty. When I explained where the warranty information came from, they said I had to call Kenmore. When I did, I was redirected to Sears. So it appears that the $2600 refrigerator becomes useless after either 1 or 2 years. Not sure where to turn. Any suggestions?

Purchased a Kenmore elite model 79572063.110 temperature on front of door we have at 33 inside fridge and freezer not cooling at all. Makes also a loud humming sound and sometimes a pop sound. We ve turned it off for now. Very disappointed in Kenmore s quality should have lasted longer perched Oct 2012. I believed that Kenmore was one of the best now I believe they re the worst. Didn t see number on recall list but should be.

6 months after buying the Kenmore elite the compressor went out. Took 3 repair calls to fix no parts untrained tech. Good times. Now today 2-5 years later and 3000 in a fridge I have nothing. Repair man to come in 10 days. Sears says Kenmore. I want a new one as well. What can we do? Did I mention all the food is lost.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Grab and go Model 795.740.411 in Sept 2015. Last Monday April 23 Refrig stopped working. I went thru cleaning vents in back, resetting Refrig per instructions. Plugger Refrig in thinking it would start working. I could hear motor start but soon no sound. I then replaced water filter and air filter thing maybe a sensor tripped. Still not working. Then I went on the internet to get suggestions. Turns out this model of Kenmore Elite has a huge recall due to Linnear Compressor failure. I then called Sears. They would not take responsibility and would not put me through to Customer Relations. They told me to call Kenmore. Kenmore kept saying Warranty and I kept saying Recall. I asked person if he knew difference between Warranty and Recall. Warranty is a miscellaneous failure of a component covered by Warranty Contract and a Recall is a mass failure of a Component(Linnear Compressor). He then set up an appointment for May 9th. Two weeks. I advised that my Wife is Disabled(Stroke) and I have 4 boys ages 11-13 and I have to go to the store before every meal and buy fresh food and throw out what’s left. We lost over $200 worth of food when Refrig quit. I was trying to get a expedited dispatch. The guy said he would get a hold of Supervisor. At the end of the day on Friday I went on the chat line and chatted with Nicolas Willis. He brought up the repair order. Still may 9th. He did see notes regarding the seriousness of my situation. He contacted scheduler and said they could be out one day earlier, May 9th. I requested to speak with supervisor. None available. I was then advised to go to Schedular chat on Monday. I was sent to the recall group to check if this model was covered. Gave Model and Serial number.
It was not on the list. I think it was not on the list as Sears did not have my EMAIL address when purchased and there was no way to notify me. This is so frustrating.

Purchased a Kenmore Elite 795.7248 sold as model 72483 and is manufactured by LG. Less than 1 year icemaker failed (jammed) was able to unjam, but this happened several times over the next few months until it totally failed after just over a year. Now in under 2 years the compressor failed according to the technician and parts are on order. This a very poorly made appliance from Korea and quality control from their production line is obviously not in place. Do not by any Kenmore appliances as they are cheap junk now.

Bought KENMORE refrigerator bottom drawer ffreezer Nov 2016 and it died two weeks ago...last week in Feb 2018. Unbelievable. But wait...called sears for repair and I get Mar 22!!!!! Without a refrigerator for a month???? Good grief. What has happened to Sears quality and customer service???

I am contacting you once again to inform you that my refridgerator is still not fixed as of today.

After calling the number below as you requested to schedule a visit with a senior technician, your Service Center sent a regular technician to my home today. He determined that the lines were clogged "like an artery" and that he had to reschedule yet another service call for March 5th. Never had any of the other technicians indicated that any "lines were clogged". So, we are again without a Freezer and NOW without a Refridgerator.

I am asking you to expidite this issue and once again, determine that this unit is simply unrepairable. We again are asking for a full refund of the purchase price of gthe refridgerator that we purchased only 2 years ago. Plus the cost of the service call yesterday, and the cost of lost food items as well as punitive damages for the increasingly frustrated and unprofessional customer service that we have experienced.

Dear Customer Service Manager,

I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding the recent service I have received concerning the repair of my Kenmore Elite Refridgerator. Specifically, after 2 years, the LG Compressor broke and a new compressor had to be ordered.

I called Sears Service Center on December 18, 2017. A service technician was able to diagnose the problem on Dcember 20th.

I ordered the Compressor Parts that day, as instructed.
The day they arrived I called the Service Center to Schedule a repair.

The Repair was scheduled for January 4th. - 17 Days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.

On January 4th, there was a snow storm and the appointment was canceled by the Sears Service Center.
I could not get a second appointment until January 16 - 29 Days after . my call to the Service Center to report the problem.

On January 16th, the technician arrived and stated the LG Compressor Parts were defective and I had to order another Compressor.

I called the Service Center that day to order the parts. I was told they were on back order from LG and they could not give me a date as to when the Compressor would be shipped. I was told that they did not know when I would be able to schedule another Service Repair appointment because they did not know when the Compressor would be shipped.

I called the Service Center the next week to follow up, and I was told that the LG Compressor was due to be shipped on 1/26/18. 39 Days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.

I confirmed with the Service Center that if I scheduled a Technician to come on February 6th, that would give enough time for the LG Compressor to be delivered to me. She agreed that would be a safe time to schedule the repair. So I scheduled another Service Repair appointment for February 6th. Now 50 days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.

On 2/5/18 I called the Service Center to confirm my appointment for the next day and to tell them that I had not received the new LG Compressor Parts. It is important to note here, that at no time was I contacted to tell me that the parts were delayed or (as I learned on the call) had not even been shipped yet. Imagine if I had not confirmed and a Service Techcinician had showed up. Sears would have no doubt been charged for the service call. I was then told that they again could not give me a date

I asked to speak to a Service Center Supervisor, as I was now thoroughty upset with the service I have been receiving as a long, long time Sears Customer. The Supervisor, could only offer another appointment on February 14th and a token $30 sears gift card for my troubles. There was no empathy or compassion or care that one of your long time customers has been without a Freezer for 53 days and would not get another attempt at shipping a LG Compressor. It will then be 58 days after my call to the Service Center to report the problem.

I am concerned that the LG Compressor that will be ordered, may 1) be broker again, and 2) will break again in the near future, and 3) I will have to pay for a Service Repair to fix a problem that may or may not be ultimately fixed. My Refridgerator is only 2 years old.

I demand that I be made whole in this situation, as we have endured, time off of work, upset our work schedules, and go without a freezer resulting in many more numerous trips to the grocery store because we cannot freeze any food. And, your repair options is to install another faulty LG Compressor into this Refridgerator. Sears should replace this refridgerator in its entirety. It is the only consolation that is acceptable due to this situation.

Sears is better than that. At least I thought they were.

I purchased a LG refrigerator from sears the ice maker needed to be replaced about 6 months later This was purchased about 7 years ago. they said warranty has run out. now the ice maker fan has another error. I just spent 95.00 to have a repairman tell me it will cost between $360 and $2000 to fix it. LG said it is not under recall. I believe it should be. Model #LFX2595OTT. serial # 702KRJUO3228.I have bought a lot of LG products but after this I won't. When I called LG they saod they would give me numbers to call for a tech to come out service charge alone would be 95.00. LG needs to be investigated thoroughly

Purchased a Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator model 795-7313 at Sears. It is only 1 and 1/2 years old. Compressor went out. No longer under warranty. Tech said compressor was burning hot (huge fire potential?). $1,000.00 to repair (paid $2,500 for the refridgerator). Sears said “sorry, no warranty”. This cannot be right! Any idea how to be somehow compensated for major price of repair?

I have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator model# 25344733102. It will not hold a charge of freon. Compressor runs non stop. I would like to know of any class action suites against the manufacturer or Sears for selling this low-quality, high-priced failure.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite LG 795.7107 5 yrs and 5 months ago. Sold as the top of the line Kenmore fridge for $3000. compressor/sealed system has failed. are there any class actions involving this product? As evidenced by the Sears My Community website this is a widespread defective product known to Sears and LG.

L G refrigerators with linear compressers are failing. when this happens the food thaws and then refreezes over and over again until the unit finall failes. every time this happens the food in the upper part of the fridge heats up and all the food spoiles . WARNING if you have this models with liner compresser and your food doesnt feel cold or your frozen food feels soft WARNING DONT EAT IT!! The compresser will finally quit.

My light dodo melted a long time ago and my icee maker quit too. I just discover the ice maker also shorted out and burnt. Is there a recall on this. I have a kenmore elite I purchased in 2006 3 door.

Kenmore elite fridge model # 795-77544600, burning smell in the refridgerator, which caused the light housing to melt, ceiling of refridgerator to melt, charred bulb sockets, cover of light extremely hot, not to mention a few more hours would have caused a fire. After 4 phone calls to Kenmore who repeatedly transferred call without checking for recall, on the 4th call I was told there is a recall. Emergency electricity shut off, food spoiled.

Kenmore elite fridge model # 795-77579600 the inside lights stay on when doors are shut, which caused the lighting housing to melt, charred bulb sockets, a rise in temp and loss of contents, not to mention nearly starting a fire.

I bought a Kenmore Elite Trio in 2006. On Sunday 7/3/2016, the inside top bulbs failed too turn off for an undetermined amount of time which resulted in a melted housing, charred sockets, rise in temp and loss of contents. Model # is 795-77563600. Have not seen this # in previous recall notices. Purchased 3/2006.
