Plane crash in the air kills two in Louisiana

. By
Pineville, LATwo single-engine Cessna 150s reportedly collided in mid-air, killing two people and injuring two others over the weekend.

Both planes were reportedly carrying two people during the plane accident that occurred less than a mile from Pineville Regional Airport, FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford told the Shreveport Times.

The two fatalities came from one of the planes, Lunsford added, and the occupants in the second plane were taken to the hospital. The extent or seriousness of their injuries was not immediately reported.

Sheriff's Major Jerome Hopewell said the two plane crash victims have not been identified. The fatal plane accident occurred during the annual Fall Fly-In event taking place at the airport, which is a social gathering of recreational pilots.

Eyewitnesses told the Times that the airplane crash occurred after the two got too close to one another "while doing a fly-by over Buhlow Lake." One woman, named Jean Wells, allegedly took photographs of the incident with her camera and shared what she saw with sheriff's deputies after the plane crash.

Authorities are currently investigating the crash.
