Toyota Faces Product Liability Lawyers over Acceleration Problems

Riverside, CAAlready facing troubling economic times, the Toyota Corporation is now the subject of new arbitration with product liability lawyers alleging that cars manufactured by the automotive giant over the past eight years contain faulty electrical systems that could lead to sudden acceleration.

An accident resulting in the deaths of a family of four driving a Lexus ES 350 recently prompted the automaker to issue a recall of 3.8 million floor mats that it blamed for the incident. Toyota charges that the mats may become lodged against the accelerator pedal, causing the sudden bursts in speed.

The Department of Transportation has claimed that the recalled autos possess an "underlying defect" that leads to the impromptu expedition, according to ABC news.
