Nicole Richie rear-ended in car accident with paparazzo

. By
Beverly Hills, CAReality television star Nicole Richie was reportedly involved in a car accident on Monday after she was rear-ended by a member of the paparazzi.

Richie, who is the 28-year-old adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, was driving her Land Rover when a man driving a Jeep Cherokee struck the back of her vehicle in Beverly Hills, People magazine reports.

Lieutenant Tony Lee said though Richie complained of pain immediately after the incident, she refused medical care at the scene.

Lee added that Richie was "going to seek her own medical treatment," presumably for a car injury related to the accident.

The driver of the Jeep was allegedly attempting to take a photograph of Richie while she was driving. The lieutenant said the suspect was arrested and booked for being unlicensed and that "officers could not verify his identification."

Lee said he could not confirm if either party was speeding, but did mention that the car accident did not occur at a traffic intersection.

Another adult was a passenger in Richie's car, though that person's identity was not immediately revealed. The celebrity's two young children were not in the vehicle at the time of the car accident.
