My check was much higher than yours: $ 1.13, one dollar and thirteen cents. I agree with you, is not worth to even deposit the check, what really bothers me is that I did not get any explanation or disclosure on how they reach the $ 1.13. Should we go to BBB and complain?, or is there something we can do. I spent a lot of money with Expedia and will not use it anymore, nor reccomend it to anybody.
    Thanks,

    Gabe

Hi Gabe, WOW! $1.13!! You can head to your local Dollar Store now! All joking aside, I knew my amount would be minimal as I’ve never really used Expedia for hotel bookings. And remember, the settlement was only based on fees–not actual charges for hotel stays. I know, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a paltry amount. Technically, the explanation would be in the notice of settlement that prospective claimants would’ve received a while back–but see, in all honesty, those can be a bear to read. That’s why I tend to blog about some of them here–to try and help folks understand what’s going on and what a settlement may (or may not) mean to them. Best I can suggest is to first go to the Expedia settlement website–that’s over at http://www.servicefeessettlement.com; you should find some info there on how they came to the settlement amount calculations. Beyond that, there isn’t much to do–except that which you plan on doing–not using it or recommending it; It’s “power to the people” and sometimes it’s the best recourse we have. Thanks for your comment Gabe–I share your lack of glee over the settlement amount–between the two of us we can’t even go to Starbucks…

I got 39 cents. The real winners here (as usual) were the lawyers.

Hi Steve, Ok, I now have to start a little contest–I'm looking for who can claim the lowest settlement check amount for the Expedia class action settlement!! Game on! Thinking this one for Facebook and Twitter…you may want to follow us there as so far, you're in the lead…prize still tbd, but there will be one. Thanks for sharing–now I don't feel so badly with my 56 cents…

My check was for $11.74. I’ll take it.

Hi Mary, WOW! I'm floored! Your check not only broke the $1.00 mark–it broke $10.00!!! And, hey, I'd be taking it, too. Of course, this does mean you are not in the running to be the winner of our "Who Has the Lowest Expedia Settlement Check" contest, but maybe next time…Thanks for sharing!
