Are the effects of Wellbutrin "emerging," or have they been pretty clear for some time? The FDA flagged it in summer 2009, and non-mainstream websites have been calling for more caution for at least three years.

Before taking Wellbutrin in the fall of 2006 I did not have psych-related issues, but when it was prescribed to assist with quitting chewing tobacco I quietly slipped past the brink of sanity, and nobody, least of all myself, could figure out what had happened. It took almost nine months until I realized my extreme anxiety, depression and hyper arousal were related to the drug. And then came the fallout, from finances to personal relationships. All were a mess for years after Wellbutrin. Recovery was a years-long process, one from which I have emerged, but it was a difficult road to travel.

Moral: Be careful. These drugs can't be taken lightly.

p.s. Just quit chewing tobacco cold turkey two months ago. The old fashioned way works better anyway.

Hi Greg, Thanks for sharing your Wellbutrin experience with us–it's a shame that many times it isn't until it's pretty late in the game that a drug's adverse effects come to light. You clearly seemed to go through some of the more adverse wellbutrin side effects–and thankfully you finally figured out that the issue was the drug itself. I'm not sure if you've already been in contact with a lawyer regarding your situation, but if not, you may want to submit your details for a lawyer specializing in wellbutrin litigation to review.

This crappp destroyed my ex. He was a brilliant doctor who quickly got addicted to the mania
it produces, calling it his rocket fuel. Closest thing to Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde med out there
Considering it is legalized speed/coke and the only dopamine agonist legal in the US, it should be banned. Where are the lawsuits. Glaxo knew what this was when they pulled it off the market in 1985 for causing seizures. The stuff was out before prozac but became widely used lately. It is a bad bad drug
