Some people have problems finding an attorney because they don't do a basic search. Case in point- I retired from the Florida Bar 13 years ago. I moved to Texas (where I never was admitted) 7 years ago. I still get emails from persons asking me if I will represent them – and usually in fields I never practiced. A lousy way to find someone to represent you.

Great post with good humor addressing a critical situation. Obviously, the choice of a lawyer can have serious long term consequences. Like with almost everything else, doing your homework is the key. However, many people don't like doing the homework or don't know how to go about doing it. Here is a detailed guide that some may find helpful: http://www.attorney-jmanuelacevedo.com/How-to-fin….

Just reading through the guide will take some time. But then again, if you are dealing with a serious situation, the time you spend in the selection of the right attorney for you and for your situation may be the best investment you ever make. Like the article says, "♫ You've only just begun ♫…"

You are in for a ride! I had a medical malpractice attorney tell me once that, while I had a good case, he lacked the money needed to pay for expert witnesses and other expenses so I'd have to front the roughly $40,000 needed for him to take my case. This guy was so slick he had me weighing my home equity to cover his expenses and it wasn't until AFTER I left that I realized I'd almost been had. Ultimately, I joined a class-action suit on the matter. Watch out!

Can hardly wait considering I did reach out to your site and didn't get anyone. Of course mine is legal malpractice and I have heard the excuses from conflict of interest to I don't want to be in court for 6 years. Bottom line, legal malpractice lawyers only want to defend the lawyers because majority have malpractice insurance, and basically they will get paid by the insurance company. These courts are still not for the people – unless you have money. Yes my case got dismissed however, I am not giving up. I believe I have a chance on appeal, and will continue. Oh and the reason I am suing my attorneys? Employment discrimination and they were APPOINTED to represent me. However, because I was solicited for funds – I was inform pauperis – and didn't have any to pay, the attorney basically didn't do squat and tossed my case, that I worked very hard on preparing.

I have been a longtime recipient of emailed newsletters from lawyersandsettlements.com. I have found the lawsuit information very informative and helpful, as many of the direct class actions have applied to myself, relatives and/or friends and proven financially beneficial. However, my experience with finding an attorney through your "legal help now" link has been a complete failure. On several occasions throughout the years I found myself seeking an attorney in various areas of law. Not only did I NEVER find an attorney, I never even received a response from an attorney!

I have never received a response either. So it looks as though it is the norm…
