Four Injured in Springfield Car Accident

Springfield, MOFour people were injured and one man is in serious condition after a recent Springfield car accident involving two vehicles, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">The Springfield News-Leader reports that 24-year-old Anthony Lawson of Richards, Missouri, was taken to a hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas, after the crash, which occurred after 3:00 pm. Lawson was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol.

The accident occurred when 22-year-old Joshua L. Rippee's northbound 1999 Mitsubishi attempted to make a left turn from US 54 to Route H and veered into a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu that was driven by 39-year-old Ann M. Roxas Johnson of Wichita, Kansas.

Johnson and her passenger, 19-year-old Charlie Roxas, were reportedly taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center in Missouri with minor injuries, the highway patrol said. Aside from Lawson, everyone else involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 878 traffic fatalities in Missouri in 2009.
