Small Plane Crash Kill 3 in Florida

Palm Beach, FLThree people were killed and one injured Thursday in a small plane crash at Palm Beach International airport.

The Piper PA-44 Seminole plane and four people on board were returning from the Bahamas, and made a stop at Palm Beach en route to Melbourne, Florida, the final destination. The plane crashed shortly after took-off on the final leg of its journey and was completely destroyed by fire. The cause of the crash is not known and is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The aircraft was registered to FIT Aviation LLC of Melbourne, an arm of the Florida Institute of Technology. According to a report on CNN.com, two students, a flight instructor and another individual from the school were on board when the plane crashed. The plane was reportedly in excellent mechanical condition, having recently been inspected. School officials believe a student with advanced skills was flying, with the instructor seated near by, Winston E. Scott, dean of the institute's College of Aeronautics, told CNN.
