Eight Dead in Cairo Bus Crash

div itemprop="articleBody" class="article">Cairo, EgyptA bus accident in Cairo on Boxing Day has killed eight American tourists who were on board the bus, and injured a further 21 passengers. The accident happened when a tour bus rammed into a parked truck, whlie en route from Aswan to the ancient temples of Abu Simbel, in Southern Egypt. The dead include six women and two men. The Egyptian driver and guide was also injured.

According to information released by Egyptian officials the eight Americans were initially transferred to a military hospital for treatment and then 10 of the injured tourists, which included two Egyptians, were airlifted to a hospital in Cairo.

Officials report that the tour bus was part of a larger tour involving some 116 passengers on three buses. The remaining two buses did not continue to Abu Simbel, but returned to Asawan instead.

According to a report on CBSNews.com, the U.S. embassy in Cairo has confirmed that the injured were being moved by military transport to Cairo, but said in a statement that it didn't have any further information on the accident or those involved.
