Accident Attorneys Rob Ammons and Jim Dunnam Help Family Win Record-Setting $27.5 Million Recovery Against Sanderson Farms

WACO, TX (May 4, 2016) (Press Release)A Waco state district court has agreed to a record $27.5 million settlement for a Waco mother and her two sons after a Sanderson Farms truck crashed into the back of their car three years ago.

Houston attorney Rob Ammons and Waco attorney Jim Dunnam represented the family and says the proceeds from three insurance companies will be divided among three trust accounts that will provide for the boys’ long-term healthcare and educational needs.

“The accident occurred November 2013 when Joshua Frank Perkins was driving 57 mph and rear-ended the back of my client’s car,” says Ammons. “In the lawsuit, we found the driver told his girlfriend he fell asleep at the wheel and struck the mother-of-two’s car which was knocked into oncoming traffic and hit by a van.”

The mother suffered a compound fracture to her arm and other injuries. Her youngest son, who was two weeks old at the time, suffered severe brain damage. The oldest boy, who was two years old, suffered minor injuries.

Judge Vicki Menard of Waco’s 414th State District Court approved the largest settlement of its kind during a short hearing that came after the parties in the case had been through two mediation sessions.
