Fatal Car Accident Leaves One Dead in Memphis, Missouri

Memphis, MOA fatal car accident early Thursday morning has left a Memphis woman dead after her 1999 Lexus crossed the center line while traveling east on US 136.

Leon's car was struck head-on by a 1989 International truck after her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane of U.S. 136. Leon, 52, of Memphis, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scotland County coroner.

The driver of the truck, 60-year-old William Meredith, of Keokuk, Iowa sustained minor injuries and was transported to Scotland County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Leon was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
