Syngenta is prohibited from appealing a federal judge’s ruling that allowed corn industry plaintiffs to continue multidistrict litigation, claiming the company tainted large shipments of U.S. grain with genetically modified seeds. The court recently issued the coordination order for the MDL proceeding.

Kansas City, KS: More than 1,800 Syngenta lawsuits have reportedly been filed by farmers across the US against Syngenta. The lawsuits allege the biotechnology company’s genetically modified Agrisure Viptera and Duracade seeds contaminated US corn shipments, making them unacceptable for export to China. Although Syngenta reportedly filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuits, in September that motion was denied.

Topeka, KS In only one month, the number of Syngenta lawsuits has reportedly grown by 300, to almost 1,800 GMO corn seed lawsuits. That jump in the number of Agrisure Viptera and Agrisure Duracade lawsuits reflects anger on the part of farmers, who say they were sold products that cannot be exported to China.

Kansas City, KS The number of Syngenta Lawsuits emerging from the Syngenta GMO Corn Seed debacle involving rejected shipments from China is demonstrative of the ordinarily harsh realities of farming. It’s a tough life, exposed as one is to drought, floods, pests and other natural disasters. Oddly enough, Syngenta genetically modified seed is designed to repel pests and help make a farmer’s life a bit easier. But allegedly jumping the gun on China’s acceptance of the GMO trait had the opposite effect.

Topeka, KS If you thought farmers were a laid-back sort who adopted a “wait-and-see” approach to difficulty, you might be in for a surprise. Almost 1,500 Syngenta lawsuits have already been consolidated in a lawsuit concerning Syngenta GMO corn seed, just months after centralization was approved, with more lawsuits possibly on the way. The Syngenta lawsuits allege commercialized corn seeds contain a trait that is not approved in China, making the corn impossible to sell in that market.

Los Angeles, CA Syngenta, a Swiss agrochemical company, is facing dozens of lawsuits brought by US farmers alleging unfair business practices regarding its selling of genetically modified corn seed. According to lawsuits brought by more than 30 farmers in the the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Syngenta allegedly sold the seed to US farmers before China had approved and agreed to import the corn, resulting in drastically reduced corn prices.
