Study: Denture Cream Can Cause Zinc Overdose

. By
College Park, MDAccording to a recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland, denture cream and adhesives can cause zinc overdoses, potentially leading to serious neurological damage.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">The Baltimore Sun reports that the study shows that zinc in some denture adhesives is associated with such neurological issues and blood damage, at least for patients who use too much of the cream too often.

Faculty members at the university said that the link in the study "should be a matter of concern for all dentists caring for denture patients...Dentists should admonish their patients to limit their use of denture adhesives in accordance with manufacturers' instructions."

According to the news provider, similar reports about the link between denture adhesives and zinc poisoning began to appear in 2008. Additionally, the US Food and Drug Administration said last month that it has received a number of reports regarding the link.

Lawsuits associated with zinc poisoning and denture cream have been filed in the US, including against the makers of Fixodent.

I have been using Fixodent for two months for an
upper bridge (temporarily placed} until my permanent
replacement is completed. My dentist has never
given me a warning about Fixodent. I am concerned
for my health even though my usage has only been
within a two month period. I will discontinue its use
now that I know the harm. I am so glad that I found
this information.

I will visit my dentist when I need my temporary
adjusted. This dentist is in Lansdowne, pa.

I have used Dentue cream for years and did not know i was being poisoned with this denture cream. Do i need to contact a lawyer?? I recently went to buy Denture cream and found that every store i went to had removed it from their shelves.

I must say, that i am shocked to say the least, that i was being poisoned by using this daily after many years of use. Now i am scared that i may be having problems from this. i was recently diagnosed with a extemely low B12 and now wondering is this is is the cause.

What signs must i look for in the future??

Sincerly,

Brenda Bentley
