Four women in Canada have filed a class action lawsuit against Pfizer Canada and Pfizer Inc. seeking relief of general damages for the sum of $500,000,000. The plaintiffs have all been long-term users of Depo-Provera, an injectable method of birth control, and they have all been diagnosed with bone mass density (BMS) problems including fractures, hip and spine problems, osteoporosis and other low bone density ailments, all of which have been attributed to the use of Depo Provera.
Depo Provera was introduced to the Canadian market in 1997 after having been rejected by Health Canada several years earlier. Pfizer, the drug manufacturer of Depo Provera, issued a black box warning in the U.S. on November 17th, 2004 and a warning in Canada on June 30, 2005, at the same time continuing to heavily market the drug as safe, stating that it "has been used by millions of women around the world for decades."
According to the [FDA], "Women who use Depo Provera 104 may lose significant bone marrow density. Bone loss is greater with increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible." It goes on to say that "It is unknown if use of depo-subQ provera 104 during adolescence or early adulthood, a critical period of bone accretion, will reduce peak bone mass and increase the risk for osteoporotic fracture in later life."
Maybe after a few decades?
Although the makers of Depo Provera agree that bone mineral density loss is "an important concern", it argues that the FDA's black box warning puts "politics before science in its handling of reproductive health products and the Bush administration's track record of attacks on family planning cannot help but raise questions about the reasons FDA chose to apply the "black box" warning to [Depo Provera].
Try telling that to countless women who are now suffering from bone density injuries.

I am 48 year old woman who appeared to be healthy and had regular GYN checkups and yearly visits to my Medical Doctor. I starting taking the Depo Provera in 1992 after the birth of my first child. I stopped taking it in 1998 so that me and my husband could try to conceive our second child. My daughter was born in July of 1999 and I started taking the shot again. Prior to this year I had not had any adverse reactions to the shot. On May 7, 2017 I became unresponsive and after being transported to the first hospital I was Air Lifted to South Alabama Medical Center where they learned I had a Brian Tumor the size of a grape fruit.

Hi. I am an eighteen year old girl. I started on the depo provera when I was maybe 15 years old due to horrible cramping. I was on it for two years or more. I bled almost everyday until a couple months after I stopped taking it. I was never informed about any side affects and was never told about any waiver that had to be signed. I lose hand fulls of hair a day, fatigue all the time, never have ANY energy, can't focus, so much more. While I was bleeding for that amount of time, I always had clots. I could also sleep a whole day without waking up once. My parents were really worried. Any comments on what I should do? Help.

My 17 year old daughter went to the doctor for help with her menstrual cycle. She was put on the depo shots to stop her periods. After about the third dose she was complaining of her shoulder bothering her. The doctor just kept telling her to put ice on it so she went to the ER at least 3 or for times over the course of three months. A new physician started at the pediatric office and sent my daughter for a MRI and it came back that she had bone cancer and she died shortly after.

I have only been on the shot for 1year and its been the hardest year for me. I have very bad depression, wanted to kill myself, bleed very day from april till nov of 2016. I have had horrible headaches where I have had to go to the hospital to get treatment and it didn't help. I have very bad cramps, milk that is unexpected coming from my breast. I have had no energy at all to enjoy life with my kids and husband. I have very bad pain while trying to have intercourse with my husband in bed. I am now in the process to switch from this shot to another form of birth control. I do not recommend this shot for anyone. I have nothing but problems since I have been on this shot. I have to go to counseling every week, I have headaches for days at a time that make me so sick. I cant enjoy life like I want to at all.

When I was 14, I got on the depo provera and it was going good til the next year. I excessively bled for months straight. Clots and everything we're coming out, and my doctor said this was normal! I also got severe migraines, dizziness, & suffered lots of painful cramps. I couldn't even walk up a case of stairs with out losing my breath. After I couldn't take it no more.. I actually lost so much blood my hemoglobin was at 4% when it was suppose to be at 12%. I got sent to an emergency room where they gave me 3 units of blood and the obnyn doctor talked to me. I told her it was all the depo and they asked if I wanted to be on it again! I said no and they gave me birthcontrol pills. Now my period is normal. But I'm infertile. My eggs don't release on my period. I also think it has messed my vision up even more than what it was. I don't reccomend this at all :( it's so not worth it.

I suffer with migraines, stomach pain, nausea for several days of the month,I thought there had to be a reason.I took depot in my teenage years, break and then again.I stopped in 2003.The long term suffering is not worth it,I went to my GP to mention the link but she was not convinced by my theory,I would like to see this contraceptive banned.

I used depo after having my second child at 19, this was the reason for choosing birth control.I stopped bleeding the entire 6 months I only got 2 injections but I gained so much weight I stopped taking it After the second injection. Shortly after I had severe leg cramps, one day I couldn't even walk. Never thought about depo being the cause then but years passed and I could never conceive, I couldn't understand this because I had 2 successful births, full term, healthy. I never had an std. At 31 years old I knew something was wrong so I told my ob my concerns, she scheduled a Hsg test, and the results was what I suspected, one of my tubes is damaged therefore I can not have a baby ever again! I've never had Any medical issues of Any kind. I know this was caused by the Depo. What is the limitations on suing if I took this drug in 1998 who is going to help Us?

I was on the depo shot for 3 years when I was a teen. I went off of it after I got married to have children. I had several miscarriages over a 4 year period. I couldn't keep a baby. Finally I got pregnant and my dr put me on progesterone and I now have 4 beautiful children but only Jesus has been able to heal the pain of all the children I lost. I never put 2 and 2 together though and went back on the depo shot a few years ago. I went on it to begin with because I have such awful periods and went on it again because they have only gotten worse. I only had two shots in me and I developed chronic nausea. I was nauseous everyday for about 6 months straight. It was awful. I never went back for my third shot because I figured it had to be the depo. I've always been so healthy and have never had chronic illnesses in my life. Once the shot for out of my system and periods came back fully now I only get nauseous when i ovulate, have pms and during my period. So I pretty much spend half of my life nauseated. I have depo to thank for that. So not only are my periods horribly painful, I get to deal with nausea with them too. I did recently fiind out that I have endometriosis so unless the Lors heals me of all of this, I will have to get a hysterectomy soon.

I got the depo shot 6 weeks after my daughter was born. I took it for about a total of 3 years. After i got off the shot i was diagnosed with pcos, which i didnt have before the shot.

I had the depot shot(s) in 1996/1997. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2000. My health, life and emotional well being has been severely impacted by this shot. I am now 39 years old, have no children and I have severe hair loss, weight gain 150lbs plus (gastric bypass in 2010). I have excess hair growth and shave my face twice a day. I have cystic ovaries that cause pain daily and painful sporatic periods. Please let me know if I have a case, it sure would be nice to have funds to treat this disease.

I received the shot after I had my son in 1999 and used it off and on until 2005. In 2011 and I was experiencing chest pain and my left arm, when they gave me an Angiogram, they found an blockage in my abdominal aorta which Medroxyprogesterone is an ingredient in the Depo shot, now I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Artery Stenosis. In 2011 I had to get a stent in my abdominal aorta and in 2015 they fund 2 blockages and now I have two stents. The neurologists says I have Neuropathy. Before I took no medicines, now I have to take 5 pills per day and one at night... I never had to take blood pressure meds, now I have to take two in the morning and one at night, a baby aspirin and blood thinners. Seeing my artery was closing I never know my legs wasn't getting the proper circulation. I am 40 years old and my legs and feet ache daily and it's very uncomfortable due to the nerve damage that I will have to deal with for the rest of my life.... I have a 3 year old son that I can't run and play with because I made a decision to us this method of birth control. I can barely walk a half of a block without stopping due to the pain....... If anyone can help me please email me because this shot has ruined my life.

I was on the Depo shot in the 1990's into the 2000's (11 years), and I am now have Type II Diabetes Mellitus with an insulin pump for the rest of my life. I was told (and read in the PDR) that the Depo shot damages the Pancreas and can cause DM. I'm living proof that it does cause DM. Thankfully I didn't suffer from sterility because I have two beautiful children.

I STARTED DEPO IN @001 AFTER TEH BIRTH OF MY SON AND I TOOK A REGULAR SHOT UP UNTIL 2003. DURING MY TIME ON THE DEPO I HAD MOOD SWINGS, DEPRESSION,DRY SKIN,AND NO PERIOD FOR UNTIL THE BIRTH OF MY 2ND CHILD IN 2009. SO NOW THAT I AM 33YRS OLD I NOW HAVE HEAVY PAINFUL IRRREGULAR PERIODS AND I AM HAVE UNDIAGNOSED THYROID GOITER INWHICH I BELIEVE THE FACT DEPO PROVERA PREVENTED ME FROM RELEASING HORMONES THROUGH MY PERIOD. I HAVE HAD NIGHT SWEATS SINCE THIS DEPO SHOT WHICH HAS BEEN THE ONLY BIRTH CONTROL I HAVE USED BESIDES A CONDOM. I STRUUGLED TO CONCEIVE FOR 7YRS AND NEVER KNEW THE DETRIMENTAL AFFECTS THIS SHOT HAS DONE TO ME AND OTHER WOMEN.

I had the depo provera shot back in the 90's and used if for quite a few years. After going off it, I tried to have a child but consistently had issues and eventually was sent to a fertility doctor. Since I had a history of migraines and other issues, he ordered a MRI (only had CT's before) and they located a tumor in my pituitary. I was then diagnosed with Cushings disease. I am curious if others had this happen or not. Needless to say I had my tumor removed but now have another one growing and require daily medications to help me.

I was on the depo shot for years, when I first started it I had my period for a year straight, then after that year I didn't get my period for about 5 years, after I heard about the bone loss I got off it, then about 8 years ago I started getting cyst on my ovaries that would rupture all the time, then it just became so frequent that I felt it everyday, till finally about a month ago I started getting very sick and day by day I was getting sicker and sicker to the point I was in and out of the hospital, but long story short after about 10 test (sonogram, ultrasound, cat scans, ect) they found that a tumor had grown so,big that it knocked my overie out of whack, that it has been twisting and twisting till it was dead, that was the worst pain I have ever been in, I was so scared, I had to have emergency surgery to get the overie out, and the tube. It got to the point that for 22 weeks u couldn't even get out of bed. It was the worst, my kids were so sad, my husband was so sad. I'm not sure what the lawsuit is actually for, for the depo, but I would th I k, and hope that it's for the pain it has caused me and my family for years. Thank, you for listening, and I hope everyone on here feels better: )

I used Depo shot for 4 years due to It was suggested to me by my gynecologist I was having long and painful monthly's and the birth control pills made me bleed. At first it seemed to work good for me I was taking the shot every three months. I had different side affects after my first shot, the first month I was hungry, happy and had lots of energy. The second month I felt the same but not as much energy and I notice headaches on it my last month before my next shot I was very irate upset and my family and friends notice it After two years of taking the Depo shot I was not having any monthly for two years. I did get off the shot because I wanted another child. I had a beautiful baby boy with in a year after I stopped the depo shot. All thought my headaches stayed with me and after the headaches was putting me in the emergency room had very bad pain issues. I went to a doctor for carpal and cubital tunnel while I was working. I has several surgeries on my hands and arms and still in pain so my hand and arm doctor stated I should not be in pain I told him I was stressed out about the pain and I was having very bad headaches with lower back and neck pain with the hand and arm pain so he asked if he could do a MRI with contras before my appointment I was sent to the emergency room by ambulance due to a headache, neck and back pain and I passed out I know I hit the floor once I was there a few hours I woke-up and they was going to send me home and before I signed out the pain in my head came back I was screaming in pain and the nurse gave me a shot to knock me out when I woke up hours later my hole family was there I was told I had a seizure and while I was sleeping a neurosurgeon did a MRI with contras and unfortunately I had a rare meningioma a cranium tumor massive on my left side of my cranium and he put me on 1200 mg of gabapentin for the seizures and hydroco for my pain. I had to have surgery to stay alive due to it was life threatening the first surgery the doctor could not take it out because he couldn't cut into it, due to it was to hard so he suggested to try again and still not able to cut into it. I went to a new neurosurgeon he was good but had to have a special knife made in Huston to be able to cut into it. My neurosurgeon was not able to remove my tumor after 5 surgery's with him so still life threatening but he was able to take most of the tumor but was told it could grow back. I had a bone plate placed in on left side of my head because my bone did get infected. A few months later my bone plate did get infected so needed another surgery. I had a new neurosurgeon again at this time that was going to due the surgery and he did said he could remove the tumor though it was behind my left eye on my optical artery plus by a nerve and I might loose my sight or taste and smell it was worth it to me to remove the tumor and he did it. I can see some out of my left eye plus it enhanced my smell and my taste seems the same. My husband asked me not to take the Depo- Provera shot because during his time in the Army in Saudi Arabia in the medical unit for 3 years he said to me that the Depo-Provera was being tested on woman soldiers there and most was having side effects on it such as not able to have their monthly's, lower stomach pain, leg pain and tumors, I wish I had listen to him then. I do feel that the Depo-Provera made me sick gave me the tumor and forever changed my life I was in my late thirty's when this happened to me. I still take gabapentin for seizures and I will always have pain on the left side of my head. Most important I'm alive able to see my children grow up.

I am 36. I began using depro in 95 at the age of 15, and stopped in 2003. My life has been a living hell since. I am no longer able to bend down with out pain in my legs. I have been depressed and disgusted by the amount of weight I gained over the 8 years I received the shot. I gained over 100 lbs, and it has been a struggle for years to try and get it off. I hate to even step out the shower because of the image before me in the mirror. I have been so depressed about this for years. Until recently, I never thought about any of my problems being connected to depro like that, but then I saw a diagram of how the body transform over time and got super angry. Now there is a 2 year only policy when I was allowed to take it 8 years.

I had ONE Depo shot and it triggered my PCOS which I didn't find out I even had until 8 years later. I didn't have health insurance for the longest time and wasn't able to have a period for over 2 years! My husband and I are trying for our first and I have to see a fertility specialist now. I know that women with PCOS have fertility problems to begin with but can ovulate with medication. I'm going on 3 years trying with fertility medication and IUI all failed. The only thing I can think of that has made DRAMATIC changes to my body and is also linked to infertility is the Depo shot....they ruined my life. I can't believe that 1 shot I got almost 10 years ago has caused me so much heart ache.

In 2008 I started depo everything was fine no side effects not even weight gain. After stopping the shot in 2010 I got pregnant 6 months after stopping. Daughter was born July 4th 2011 and got back on it due to it being successful. Been on it since Nov of 2015 stopped til Jan 2016 got back on it and now I'm have most of the side effect like weight gain, headaches, nausea, stomach pains, fatigue, tenderness breasts and hot flashes literally sweating feeling like I have a server. And when I got back on it in Jan 2016 I got sick the same way for a month and I'm not going to be sick again for a month bc of this birth control.

I got on the depot in 1998 after the birth of my son. I was on it or about 6yrs until I was told I had a small tumor behind my nose, which was causing headaches. My doctor suggested I get off the depo to see if it had anything to do with the tumor. Once off, after a few month my doctor ran another scan and the tumor was gone. I was also told their would be a possibility I could become pregnant once the drug was out of my system. From 2004 - 2012, when I chose to get back on the depo I was unable to get pregnant. I stayed on it for a year and once I realized the weight I had gained and headaches were the reason I got off in the first place, I got back off. Still for over a year now I have not been able to conceive so I requested a fertility test, in which I found out my tubes were blocked. So blocked that the dye the doctors use to check tubes could not even unblock them. I feel as though the depo had something to do with my infertility.

I have a wonderful son who I 10 now. But when I first started taking the Depo shot he was about 6 weeks old in 2006. So I had no fertility problems that I know of back then other than I have A- blood. It completely stopped my periods and at first I was ok with that. I was 21 years old. So I wasn't worried about it. I was on it for 2 almost 3 years with weight gain, hair loss, headaches, and moodiness. So when I got married to my husband and we decided to started having children together of our own I got off the shot a year before trying like my doctor told me to. We have been trying for 7 years now and I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, and PCOS. Which I didn't have before the depo shots. I sreally that a lot of women have the same issues as me and I don't feel thet this is just a coincidence.

I took the shot for two years starting in 1995. I noticed weight gain, started to have migraines, diagnosis of endometriosis AND PCOS, severe hirsutism (I have to do hair removal daily), my hair has thinned, my have high anxiety due to these conditions. I went off the shot t9 get pregnant and had infertility issues. I was not ovulating even with fertility drugs. The most devastating is the daily hair rewmoval and the embarrassmen of a five o'clock shadow and having to remove again if I have plans at the end of the day.Insurance will NOT cover medication for the hirsutism. It is devastating. Do I have a case?

I had the shots in 1994 and 1995 and in 1995 I was diagnosed with pseudo tumor cerebral. I have had a migraine non stop since 10-7-1995 due to this condition. I did not find out about the side effects or the lawsuit until last December 2014. I sent my information to a Law Firm Schmidt & Clark but it has been a night mare dealing with them. Last month they informed me that my case was past the statue of limitations but they will try to find a loop hole. This is BULL****. I was never informed of the side effects from the company or anyone else so how can this be past the limit. It's not right, this drug has ruined my life and now I have to find a Legitimate Law firm that will actually do something. I requested a release from this law firm and they agreed, to most lawyers its all about the easy money but not if they really have to work for it.

Immediately after the last shot wore off (about 6 months later) I was diagnosed with pcos and was told that my body did not produce progesterone anymore. Fast forward 10yrs and my spine fractured in the middle of the night in three spots it was my L5 I have never been in an accident or had any other trama to my back. I had a fusion and the bone graph is not growing back right. I have been told I have the start ofosteoporosis and sever arthritis. I immediately started taking the shot in 1999 after the birth of my son. After about 4 years I stopped taking it because I noticed a dramatic weight gain, excessive facial hair, and severe pain in my abdominal area. I was also diagnosed with cysts on my ovaries, fibroid tumors, as well as two miscarriages. My menstrual cycle is very irregular. And sometimes I bleed for months at a time. This whole thing is ruining my life. I'm in so much pain sometime that I can't even work. Not only that, I may not ever have kids again. Had I known all of this, I never would have taken it. The only thing that I was told is it might cause weight gain and hair loss. Can someone please tell me if I have a lawsuit or any compensation coming.

Yea so I have numerous health issues at 37 and I'm having a hysterectomy next year here is my list... ovarian cyst that burst, fibroids, arthritis, headaches, nerve sensations in my feet and frequent yeast infections. I had taken the depo shit for 12 years and I'm starting to think this is the reason why!!! I never got pregnant even after taking the shot irregularly and when I did get pregnant the 1st time I immediately misscarried. I do have a child now but didn't get pregnant until the age of 28... now I am going to have a hysterectomy and there are no other options besides placing myself in early menapause??? Is depo the whole cause of all these issues that I am having do I need to contact an attorney???? Help????

I have been on the depo shot on an off for about 3 years every time I took it I have rapid hair loss I had lost my nails and I also had bad skin I do have very bad arthritis I also experienced the rapid weight gain and I gain about 90 pounds every time I took it and I do want to know is there a lawsuit I can file for this I am NOT the same girl anymore I am however on the Implanon at the moment but I am NOT the same physically and I am very confused about it it is hard for me to lose weight it is hard for my hair to get back thick it is hard for my nails to stay and grow without breaking within 2 weeks then it is sometimes problems that I have with my uterus that sometimes is painful after I've had my kids I still do not recommend the depo shot as a contraceptive I really am interested in how I can file a lawsuit about this

I started uses the Depo shot back in 2002 after I had my first child. I was probably on the Depo for about two years or more and during that time I always felt that there was something not right about it. I gained a lot of weight and was depressed a lot, my teeth started to decay and never stopped no matter how much I gargle brush or floss I have not been able to have kids since I got off of the Depo. three years ago I had a miscarriage"unknown cause."last year I had an Ectopic pregnancy also "unknown cause" Earlier this year I had another Ectopic pregnancy "unknown cause". I strongly believe that the Depo was the cause. doctors told me it was some type of blockage from maybe me having irregular periods which is probably true being that I didn't start having irregular periods until after I got off the Depo shot. When I hear people talk about the Depo shot it makes me very, very upset; because I know it was the cause for the things that happened to me and Iam pretty sure lots of other people.

I received the Depo Provera shot over a decade ago and I am still dealing with the repercussions of that decision. I gained 50 pounds in two months following the first injection. I lost all my self esteem and became seriously depressed. I developed Cushings Disease as a result of the shot. The hormone injection caused a brain tumor (Cushing's Disease) to form. I have just recently had it diagnosed. I knew for years that something was wrong with me and I knew Depo Provera was to blame. It ruined my life.

I am never gettiing Depo again. Before it does anything else to me. These stories have covinced me enough. I'm having blood clots the size of my hand. I have been bleeding 85% of the time i have had these shots. I have migraines to the point I black out from time to time. My abdominal pain has made me have to leave my job more than a few times. I need more information...I'm looking into this a lil further!

I got on the Depo shot after having my daughter in Nov. of 2001, I was on it for 3years before my Doctor took me off it after discovering I had endometriosis. She told me the depo shot caused it. It took me 7 years before I was able to have another baby and the endometriosis returned 3 months after I had my 2nd child. I constantly suffer from sudden sharp pains in my abdomen due to this condition and was told I'd eventually have to have a hysterectomy. I've been watching for years now to see if anyone else has had the same problems or if anything can be done!

Hi I'm 20 I started the shot in about Nov. Of last year my doctor gave me no choice because I was in cosistant with my pills really. After my second shot I had stopped having any signs of a period. I had my last shot in about April.I still have not received a period . at first I thought I was pregnant but that was not the case. As for pelvic pains I have them but I had them once before before I was ever put on the shot they had me do an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't the same problems . and now I'm worried the depo may have took my chances n ever having children. Is this really a side affect of this drug if so they need this off the shelf emediately

I was on the depo shot I only took it two times, it was in 2008 and I was fine until I took it. After taking this shot I have been in the hospital many times a few of which I have had blood transfusions. I am not a money hungry person, I'm not even part of this lawsuit but it is not right that I have almost died at least three times, sitting here writing this now I have been bleeding for almost a month again. Women should not have to live this way, this drug should not be on the market!

I was on Depo Provera from 1997 to 2002. Since then I have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and broke my hip, knee, left wrist(two times)
I am a nervous wreck in the winter months and afraid to go outside when there is ice on the ground or it looks slippery on the roads. I hope that I don't break anymore bones in this lifetime. I have scars on my wrists both inside and outside.
The top of my wrist has a 2 inch scar and my hand has two scars that look like holes and both are very noticeable. These scars were the result of the surgery needed when my wrist was not healing after two weeks with a cast on. Therefore a fixator to keep my wrist from moving was inserted in the hand and wrist for 6 weeks until the wrist bones were repaired.
The second time I broke my wrist there is scarring that looks like a long zipper. This was another surgery the surgeon needed to do to place hardware in the wrist bone and that procedure was a permanent placement.
I broke my hip bone, the surgeon told me I was too young to do a hip replacement so he did a hip restoration instead. He couldn't believe the hip was so crushed from a fall that normally wouldn't leave a person with a broken hip.
I have that many scars it is embarrassing for me because I am an esthetician and when I do my services I know clients are wondering how they happened or are probably thinking I might have tried to commit suicide. I'm not paranoid too bad with that but it often crosses my mind.
So, now what else is to come when I am much older. I don't even want to go there with that. I am a part of the class action lawsuit in Canada and wonder will this ever be settled in this lifetime. It's 10 years now and still not much headway. I also wonder if most of the settlement from Pfizer, if the lawyers do win, will actually go to the affected women of depo prover or when the lawyers take their percentage will that leave us with peanuts. Anyway time will tell. I also think about if this class action lawsuit is settled are we going to feel even more hardship to prove that we were affected by the Depo Provera. Are we going to go through a trial or what? I don't know if others in this class action lawsuit feel the same as I do. I would like to hear your comments about the thoughts I am having and feel free to share your opinion. In other words will we have to fight to get our settlements or is it going to be stress free. I am positive in all aspects of my life but saw these comments and started to write my thoughts on the outcome. Example Will the lawyers ask questions like ' well what were you doing when you broke your hip etc. Just my thoughts...............

This is dang crazy!!!! I have been on depo off and on for years and EVERY time I have to sign a waiver saying that I understand that it can cause issues with bone loss. I was also told if I stay on it for more than 5 years I would need a bone density scan. Now I am 10000000% sure that I was not the only one given these warnings. I am at a loss as to how ANY of you can sue after your knew there was a risk. I think every single one of you are money hungry lo life's.

I have been on the depo shot for over 15 years and also have a traumatic brain injury and take a lot of medication for that. This past June 2014 I woke one morning with a blood clot in my thigh from my ankle to my crotch, it was my entire femoral artery. I was lucky to be alive. Then 2 weeks later I had a pulmunary embolism. I also fell out of bed 2 feet broke 5 ribs. Mind you I am a fit active working 45 yr old single mother. Other than the head injury nothing keeps me down I take my meds and I am just like any other person, I work harder than most 20 yr olds. Than bang this took me down!! I still am on warfarin finally I stopped having to give myself shots in my stomach, that was exoprin another blood thinner. And just a few weeks ago I pushed a car out of the snow using my back and I broke 2 vertebra, and I been moving and haven't gotten to hospital but I think I may be bleeding internally, I can't touch my right side or my back or breathe deep. I also received 4 more shots after the bloods had been found.
I need help I really feel this is all due to depo but I have spoken to a few lawyers and they don't seem to eager to help. Does anybody have any suggestions

I have met too many young women lately who took the shot and now are gluten (and more) sensitive. Anyone else?
The only "survey" I could find of 9600 women showed 6 were gluten allergic. I believe this number is much higher and needs to be addressed. Please send me a message if you know of someone who is affected in this way by the shot.
My family thanks you.

It was too late it destroyed my life! If any one had a similar experience I would love to know. Please e-mail me your story!

I would like to contact Joanna Kopecky who posted the comment regarding her daughter having a stroke after being administered depo provera shots. I suffered a stroke in August 2014 and was taking depo provera. I was being given double the dosage and was also told I had several mini strokes and currently have a large blockage in one of my main arteries in my brain. I would like to speak with Ms. Joanna Kopecky, please email me at email@example.com

My 20yr old daughter has been on the depo shot for a few years.A little over a week ago, she had a large stroke. We were also told that they saw mini strokes also in her MRI and CAT scans. This shouldn't happen to anyone, much less a 20yr old. Discourage anyone who uses depo and have them get informed, please. It may save their life.

I began taking depo at 14 and took it strait until I was 19. I was discharged from the military at that time diagnosed with recurring stress fractures due to low bone density and then subsequently arthritis at age 19. I quit taking the shot and immediatly became pregnant. My daughter carried to term but was born with devastating birth defects that I did not realize may be linked to my long term use of this drug. I also suffered from terrible endometriosis and cervical cancer and had to have a hysterectomy two years ago. If all of that was not bad enough, I am 34 years old and am sporting a full set of dentures because all of my teeth rotted out. And I haven't even gone into the mental health issues I have had to deal with. It is safe to say that depo clearly ruined my life! I just hope the statute of limitations has not run out! They should pay! Not only for the women's lives that were ruined but for the innocent children born affected by things that were no way in their control!

I went from never having a single cavity till around 15 y/o and after that I had cavity's everytime I went to the dentist and now at 28 I am loosing teeth being root canals and having to get extensive dental work. My doctor told me it was most likely from being on the shot so long and that I will most likely have a lot of issues with bone loss and osteoporosis and it was all from being on the shot for as long as I was I have had multiple broken bones from minor injuries and can not hold pregnancies I always miscarry not to mention multiple ovarian cyst and other problem I can't believe how much destruction this shot is done to my body and I'm scared to get older with the threat of osteoporosis and everything elseI cannot believe the shot was ever approved and I cannot believe I was on it for as long as I was. my doctor never warned me about any of these risk factors or told me to take calcium. I'm too young for this...

The Depo shot is from terrible, I've been getting it off and on since 1996. And was told in 2005 that I should not get it unless I'm taking vitamin c and d while on the shot. I am 36 I've had a bone density scan which shows I have osteopenia, and spine bone loss. I have anxiety which I have never had, headaches, major mood swings, this shot is from the devil.

I was 15-16 when I first got the shot. I was in a group home for girls and fairly sexually active.
I remember they never gave me a choice if I wanted to use the birth control pills over a shot.
I was on it all of a year. I then stopped the depo shot altogether.
Five years later, I had my first surgery due to endometriosis. I have cysts now that play jokes with me every month. Deciding if I'm going to be in pain that month or not.
I've been told that I have a 70-90% chance of ever having a child of my own, which means never!
Almost 12 years later, a diagnostic was done to my system that showed that due to that shot I have gained weight, grew facial hair, have cysts every month and suffer from endometriosis all because of that shot. They gave me MORE in that shot than they would give someone in just a few years time!
I would love to sue the company responsible for my pain and anguish and put the company to shame for destroying women's bodies!
NEVER EVER take this shot!

Hello, my name is Mary Hardin. I am now 23 years old. I got my first shot of depo during the end of my junior year of highschool, and then the next three months later, and the last shot three months after that. I was told that depo was a contraceptive that could regulate my period not only in length of time but also in the heaviness of my flow. I was also told that it would helpnwoth cramps and my intense migraine. I was aware that I could have a reaction and me on my period inversely for three months after my last shot. (But not for 11 months, not until the patient becomes anemic) The excuse was that the depo was regulating my period, 'getting it on the right track'. By inversely, I mean that I was on my period for a month straight then off for a couple days. 8 months later, with the same side effects; heavy non-stop flow, blood clots, worse migraines, and the most intolerable cramps I have ever experienced. I stoppped caring about school, to embarrassed to go, no one believed me, I was left to fend for myself. Once I became anemic, and pale in the face close to passing out. I had to go to the emergency room for being anemic. I was given iron supplements, a transvaginal ultrasound, and a larger than I could afford medical bill. I was on my period inversely for 11 months straight. The cost of sanitary napkins alone left me penniless. I got to the point that I was using wash rags because it was alot cheaper, and I could wash them by hand and reuse. I lost my sanity, my self worth and now with all this underway I feel like i am no longer fertile. I have always wanted to be a mother, to have a family of my own, and now because of depo I may have lost that chance. Since then I have fallen into a deep depression, my self esteem hhas greatly decreased. I'm at a loss of words. Depo is one of the worst things you can do. I advise everyone and everyone to spread the word to not condone to this medical birth control treatment. How can they get away with this? Now that I know I'm not alone in this, I won't stop until depo is no longer an option.

Hi, I have been on this injection just over 16 yrs with a break in between to have a child and I fell pregnant virtually straight away due to an internal investigation when I was spotting. I have been ill on and off since January and never thought it was the injection until my last one in June, I was so ill and then 1 st August I went to a&e with calf pain and was told I had dvt probably caused by my contraception injection. It was a. Shock!! To say the least. Now I think about it I was short tempered, gained around 4 stone over the years when not dieting and not much sex drive. I am hoping I do not get another clot and will not be using birth control again.

Hello my name is Aisha Goodson and I am 33. In the years of 98-99 I was on the depo shot and had to get off because it had given me a dysfunctional bleeding. It started out my period would come on and I would bleed heavy for 10 days at a time. The last time I had taken a shot my period came on and stayed on for two months straight, I finally went to the emergency room because it was extremely heavy. At that time theytold me at Jackson Hospital that I had a dysfunctional bleeding. I was unaware that this was gonna cause me the problems that I have now, at the Autauga county health department they didn't tell me the risks that I was taking, and no as a young lady I didn't think that I would have too. 20 years later I am in kidney failure because of my anemia, diabetes, and hypertensio. The anemia is because of the constant blood loss that I have because I bleed so heavy on my period, it's so bad that I have had 3 blood transfusions. Because of it now i am on dialysis and my life is gone because I wanted get on birth control. My questions and concerns are; can sue the makers of the depo shot, or is there anything I can do. If so I need a lawyer that o don't pay unless o collect.

Hi-I started Depo in 1996 to help me to gain weight. I didn't gain any weight at all. I was not told that I could only take this shot for 2 years until 2013. My GYN doctor gave me a bone density test and recommended I stop taking this shot due to the results of my bone density test which was not very good. During the time I was taking this shot I never linked my hair loss, depression, stomach issues, joint pain, tooth pain, skin rash (eczema on the breast), strong urine odor, headaches, sweating to this shot. It is now September 2014 and I have not received my menstrual cycle back. My last menstrual cycle was 2003 and before that 1996. I am 48 years old and going through menopause I guess, I really don't know since not having a cycle for many years. I am have teeth pain everyday, had to have teeth pulled, teeth are chipping and cracking this has been hell for me thank god I didn't want any more children because this shot will destroy your reproductive system. I do not recommend this shot to anyone.

I am 50 years old and have been going crazy wondering why I have suddenly been experiencing unusual bone, allergy and skin problems. Luckily a newspaper article that indicated a relationship between bones problems and prescription meds prompted me to research Depo Provera which I took from 2002 - 2009. Fortunately or unfortunately I found the problem postings of other Depo users and saw that I have experienced most all the problems of other Depo users. At least I now know the cause.
My very first unusual problem happened in 2010 when I stood up from a chair and suddenly my ankle fractured for no apparent reason.
In 2013 I tripped and broke my fall with my hand and thus severely fracturing my wrist which required surgery to install 6 pins and a plate to hold my wrist together.
In 2014 I took a simple slip on my butt that resulted in a rib fracture which caused bleeding of the lung and fluid in the lung. I am presently recuperating after a week stay in the hospital. The doctors said my bone fractures resemble that of an 80 year old women. I have scheduled a bone density test to determine the amount of harm Depo has actually caused my bones.
I addition to my bone problems, I have become allergic to a salve that I have used for many years to treat minor burns. Using this salve has caused a rash all over my body with an uncontrollable itch. I am presently treating this rash with a strong steroid clobetasol protionate cream .05% which appears to be helping.
Also, my doctor has informed me I have contracted severe eczema.
As I find solutions to my medical issues I will post to the web so others may possibly benefit from my treatment. Has anyone known of a successful claim against Pfizer for the harm they have caused thousands of women, many of whom do not even know Pfizer is the culprit.

I am 40 years old. When I was 18 years old, I was given my first Depo Provera shot because I had severe Endometriosis. I had extremely painful periods and I was given the shot to stop them all together. Instead, I started to bleed. They gave me the second shot early, I still kept bleeding. I received the first shot in October of 1993. In February of 1994, I was still bleeding and was sent to immediate surgery by another doctor. I was 123 lbs when I got my first shot. In February 1994, I was 98lbs. I am just under 5'9".
He did a laparscopy and removed the endometriosis that was tying off my bowell. It was ready to explode. A few weeks later, I started to bleed again. The new Dr. gave me a short blast of progesterone and that stopped it. With my very next period, all of my original symptoms were back.
I spent my life on one birth control or another and they are all equally garbage. I threw them all away around 2003. I refused to take any more. I thought to myself, something will burst and then they will have to give me a hysterectomy and stop all of this.
I have spent almost my entire adult life sick, depressed, too happy, hormone issues, crying, acne, migraines, diarrhea, sore throats, it was as if my body was allergic to the entire menstruation process.
In 2005 I met a doctor who promised she would give me a hysterectomy if I would spend 6 months on Lupron Depot. six months turned into 12 because it did not work the first time. I was so sick from these shots. My body couldn't even regulate its own temperature. I was wearing three layers of clothes in July in the middle of a lake. Everyone else, was swimming. I still have hot flashes and temperature issues.
In 2006, I got my hysterectomy and that was supposed to solve everything. During the hysterectomy, they discovered my appendix was ready to burst so they did an appendectomy as well. They performed a hysterectomy, appendectomy, lasic excision of endometriosis, old adhesions, and fibroid tissue and they did a Cystoscopy to see if I had IC, which of course, I now have.
I too cracked a tooth a couple years ago and had to get a crown. It was simply from grinding my teeth at night.
It's 2014 and I still have Endometriosis, Hypothyroidism, Osteopenia, Intersticial Cystitus, Celiac Disease and everyday things seem to get worse.
I have terrible food intolerances and my allergies are getting worse every year. I never had them before.
Right now I weight 113 lbs. I am usually around 120 lbs. Most of my diseases have specific diets and they have taken a great deal of my food away. I feel like I am starving to death.
The makers of both Depo Provera and Lupron Depo need to be held responsible for their toxic miracle drugs. These pharmasutical companies get away with murdering people every day and no one seems to care.
In a perfect world, our government themselves would take responsibility for this. They are the ones allowing this stuff on the street. We die so they can get rich. God Bless America.

I am now 42 and have been using Depo Provera 10 yrs now, due to adenomas on liver which prevents me from using estrogen. I have been diagnosed with low vitamin D last year. I also developed psoriasis on my scalp thought to be due to stress and trauma plus low vitamin D. Now my joints in my hands and feet ache like mad. So now I suspect I've developed psoriasis arthritis, strongly suspicious if it was caused by Depo Provera. I am seen by different Dr's (MD & GYN) so none of them have put puzzle together. I just started paying closer attention to my own body and age being a real concern so I started researching it all. Very concerned about my health.

My daughter had 1 shot ( at the age of 17) of depo since then she has had several issues connected such as- her period is very irregular, non stop bleeding, severe cramps , headaches severe, as well as other medical issues just to start with she was not given a physical before the shot to make sure it was the perfect choice for her and her body. Now the doctor / clinic will not give her a follow up appointment nor answer her questions concerning her symptoms.

I've been on depo for 13 years. I just found out 10 years should be the max. The next week I stepped out of bed and broke my right ankle. Just like that. I didn't trip, the floor was clean. I had to crawl to the toilet. Now I've been out of work for 5 weeks and I don't know how much longer. I'm a waitress, so there is no light duty work when you can't walk or drive.

My doctor has been giving me depo injections for the past 7 years and she recently retired and when i went to establish care with another provider to continue receiving my depo shots I was informed that i would not be able to continue the depo. Not only that, the back, hip, and kneee pain I complain of may be related to the long term use of depo. I am currently waiting the results of my bone desity scan to see what damage has been done. I worry the back pain I have now will be with me the rest of my life as a result and am angry I was not informed I was being given this injection longer than the recommended length of time.

I was on the Depo shot from almost the time it came out and on it for like 10 years. At 30 I was diagnosed with Osteopenia. I'd like to know if there's a statute of limitations?

I was a depo provera user for 4 years using it to treat uterine fibroids. It worked like a charm. However, when I quit in March 2013 my appetite went with it! I have lost a dramatic amount of weight.
I am looking to start a class action lawsuit and need women in the New york east coast area. Please contact me for more info.

I met my now husband when I was 15 years old. Started dating in 2009 we got married in 2010. By 2011 we still had no children together. He has a seven-year-old son. I have no biological children of my own. I'm 26 married and because of the depo shot I'm totally completely unable to have any children of my own. When I went in the doctors had told me that they had seen that both of my ovaries were completely covered insist the lining of the uterus was almost 4 inches thick. After doing a lot of research this is exactly what happens when you take the depo shot. Now I have no way to build my own family and it seems that there's nothing I can do. Does anyone know of a current class-action lawsuit that has been filed against the Pfizer company or even how to go about filing a lawsuit against them?

I was a healthy runner before I started Depo ! After giving birth to my daughter back in 2001, I went to my Doctor for birth control.I loved it at first no periods, no pills to remember to take with three kids it was perfect for my lifestyle! I had to stop taking it in 2007 when i was hit by a drunk driver and needed cervical spine fusion. When talking with my surgeon about using bone from my hip and asked if I was on medications of any kind I replied just Depo Provera he immediately ordered a bone density test and discovered at the age of 31 i have osteoporosis... I was furious, he could not do anything because my bones were brittle and he could do more damage!!! I had to take calcium and vitamin D along with other medications so that my bones could build back up some.... it took a year to get my neck fused and I am still Osteopenic at the age of 38!! I have hormone issues, Irregular periods, have horrible migraines, cramps, acne, weight gain, thyroid issues, along with many other health issues I believe from this product!! If I knew this could cause bone loss I never would have taken it!! I NEVER had any broken bones until I became an adult and after taking this product!!!!

I am a healthy 34 yr old woman. It have NEVER had any issues with irregular periods. About a year and a half ago I began experiencing longer than normal periods, increased volume of blood loss & increased cramping. In November 2013 I began experiencing major back aches, right side pains, vomiting, fatigue & lower abdominal cramping non stop. I went to emergency room as I thought I may have been at risk for appendicitis. Come to find out (after 11 hours and endless amounts of blood work, ultra sounds & MRI) I have cysts on my right ovary. I followed up with my dr ASAP. Dr recommended Depro to take away the pain. She said I may have endimitriosis, but let's try to treat the cysts before we do anything surgically. I trusted her. She told me I wouldn't have period and it would also shrink the cysts. Sounded GREAT to me! So without hesitation- I got my first AND ONLY dose of depro. Within in 2 weeks I was severely depressed, crying all the time, having suicidal thoughts and I began bleeding NON STOP! My pain was gone, but I would have taken the pain back in a heart beat if I could have just felt mentally stable again. I returned back to dr and told her about my symptoms. She put me on ANOTHER birth control to "offset" the hormone imbalance the depro caused. Let me rewind and tell you I don't take meds EVER!!! I ocassionally would take an Aleve for my cramping, but that's it. I don't like meds I don't believe in using one med to fix a problem and damaging the rest of your body with that some med in the process. BUT I WAS DESPERATE- AND I TRUSTED THE DR!! Long story short- it is now been over 3 months since I have had the depro shot and I have been bleeding EVERYDAY SINCE I RECIEVED THE SHOT! Now, the shot is "leaving" my body (or so the dr said) and I am experiencing HEAVY bleeding (like bleeding through super tampons every hour) experiencing INSANE clots and cramping....I AM MISERABLE! Did I mention that I am a personal trainer, avid runner, mother of 4 and wife?..!!!! My entire family is being effected by this shot!! I would go back if I could and deal with the pain if I could!!! I am now anemic, which is causing fatigue....this is not me! This is not my lifestyle!! I am a coach, a mom , a wife!!! I am active, happy & always on the go......well, I was all of these things BEFORE the shot!!! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS SHOT----DONT DO IT!!!! I am concerned my body will never be normal again- I am scared, worried, anxious & becoming angry that this shot has taken my life from me!

I took depo for 9 years and I got pregnant 2 & 1/2 years after I stopped taking depo I got pregnant for the 1st time I had a miscarriage from a ectopic pregnancy where the baby poked a hole in my fallopian tube where I was bleeding in, they said that I could have died so they had to take my whole left fallopian tube out because it was destroyed so now only have one left with a slim chance of getting pregnant again and a chance of it happening again .

If anyone is actually looking to file a suit me and my friend are permanently messed up from getting the depo shot and my family has gone completely broke from trying to "fix me@ after all the damage, and it's just not fair that the shot that was supposed to be so great has ruined so many woman's lives. We've been talking about filing a law suit and we have been looking for a good lawyer so anyone else who wants justice let me know at email@example.com and we'll talk it all out.

Has a lawsuit been filed against the makers of the Depo shot? I had to have a complete hysterectomy at a young age due to getting the depo shot, I believe. I never had any problems before getting the shot but have had several since then.

I started taking the Depo shot after I had my daughter in 2000. Soon after I got off of the shot five years later I started having severe stomach cramps and horrible periods I went to the Doctor several times. The doctor decided to do exploratory surgery on me and I had endometriosis (never had any problems before. I went in twice for surgery to scrap the endometriosis to no avail. In November of 2005 had a total hysterectomy at age 25. When the Doctor talked to me after surgery he said that all my female organs had endometriosis all over them I had cysts on my ovaries. So at age 25 I went into menopause! I am still dealing with all the crap that comes with menopause(weight gain, hot flashes, mood swings, no sex drive)! I truly believe that the Depo caused all of this!! I never had any issues before I took the Depo! I was on birth control pill for 4 yrs and when I got off of them I got pregnant within Two months! This was just a a little a bit of what I went through.

I was on the Depo Shot 17 years ago. It was horrible. I gained 40+ lbs. Had horrible mood swings, horrible cramps. Sadly, it's the only thing I can take now without getting my tubes tied. Same thing is happening again, except I'm getting horrible back pains, and cramps are worse with cysts rupturing. I don't advise anyone to take it. As soon as our new insurance kicks in, I'm getting my tubes tied.

depo have destroyed my life I am suffering from all kinds of health problems now

I have been using depo provera off and on (3 or 4 different times) since I was about 18 years old and I am now 33. Each time I have been on it I have had bad nausea, back aches, neck aches, head aches, stiff muscles in my back & neck, lower sharp abdominal pain, really loose stools, upper abdominal pains (near where you would think the gallbladder is), loss of appetite from the nausea, seems like hair loss more hair on the comb after a shower than use to be but the Dr. said that it is cause I have really long hair, I don't notice any bald patches (yet), fatigue. I am currently on Depo Provera and I have had bad lower abdominal pain in my lower right quadrant that ended me up in the hospital ER, they thought it was my appendix and did a cat scan and the cat scan did reveal that my appendix was in the "normal" size range but on the larger end of normal, they kept me in the hospital over night for observation and sent me home the next day. I have since still had lower abdominal stabbing pains that come and go and upper abdominal discomfort as well and I have been running a temp anywhere from 98.6 (normal but that is before I get up out of bed) up to 100.3 during the day. My dr's have done another cat scan and said that everything has come back normal, they have done blood work and all tests have come back normal, I have had stool samples tested and all come back normal, I am scheduled to see the colon Dr. to have him evaluate me to see if he can determine anything but I have been down that road before the last time I was on Depo and had these symptoms as well and they didn't find anything on a colonoscopy the last two times they have done anything other than they say I have irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux. None of my pains have ever been explained and the Dr.'s that I go to when I have asked them if it could be the Depo have all said that "no, it couldn't be the depo". The time before this time that I was on depo and had the upper abdominal discomfort the Dr.'s thought maybe it could be my gallbladder, they sent me to the Dr. to have a pipida scan and everything came back normal on that so my gallbladder was fine. Every time I have stopped using the Depo the symptoms I have been having have either gone away or have diminished a whole lot to where I don't feel as bad as I do now all the time. I have never been checked for any bone loss or osteoporosis but I have had two teeth that broke on the softest things when I ate and had to have them pulled, now I have one tooth that has a crack in it that I have to get crowned. I don't know if that could be the cause of Depo or not. I have had cat scans done, ultrasounds, pipida scans, colonocopy's, EGD's, to try and explain the symptoms that I am having. None of the symptoms according to the Dr's are linked to my use of Depo Provera. I should have never listened to the Dr.'s telling me that now that I am older my body has changed and I probably wont have those problems again. Well 3rd time is the final for me! I am never going to take another shot as long as I live! I just hope that once the Depo is out of my system all my pains and nausea go away. Please if you are thinking about taking Depo Provera DON'T! You will spend more money on chasing pains that the Dr's think are linked to something gone on inside of you and not to the Depo! Dr's wont tell you it is a prescription causing this cause they probably get kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies so they don't want to loose that money!

I started using the depo shot when I was 15 years old because my menstrual cycle was so bad I couldn't move! I started the shot and within a few days I had stopped bleeding. Been on the shot ever since (I am now 31) and wouldn't give up the depo shot for anything, I couldn't survive without it! I was off the shot for a short time, got pregnant and went right back on the shot after I had my daughter, never had a problem with it!

I want to know if there is any way to get part of the settlement that was done a few years ago. I finally got my diagnosis from a doctor. I was on the depo shot for 6 years and I stoped taking it in 2007. I can not get an attorny to help me even though I was just recently diagnosed with the side effects. I can not afford to fix all of the side effects I am suffering from and they effect my everyday life. I need help can some one tell me if there is any way to sue now or be able to join the class action suit against them in 2008????

After reading through all of the above comments, I am so very lucky that I am maybe one of the few that has only has good comments to add - I started taking Depo-Vera when I was about 23, as I was unable to take any form of oral pill as it made me throw up everyday. 10yrs later I was starting to think of a family & discussed this with my doctor. I was advised that because of my long history with the drug, conception may take up to 2 yrs. So when I found myself pregnant by my next cycle I was surprised to say the least.... I do how ever experience irregular periods at times, but for the most part I do not have them at all. After having my 1st child I went off the drug for around 5yrs as I was not sexually active. I have recently gone back on Depo-Vera & still find it the best option for me.

I was givin the depo shot when I was 17..after my terminated pregnancy. I had about 3-4 shots.. My health has never been the same since. My initial problems were- spotting regularly, hot flushes, emotional mood swings, weight gain. I stopped taking all birth controle when I was 19.. I'm now 24 I experience thick black hair growth on my lip, neck and chin ( this could be corsed by polysystic overies) I am having an ultra sound tomorrow to find out! My periods are still irregular, loss of libido. Thrush and anxiety. I suggest anyone taking birth controle to rethink what they are doing to there bodies..I'm doing everything I can naturally to nurse my body back to health..take care all and sorry for all your troubles x

I only got the depo shot once and it has ruined my life! I ended up in the hospital two weeks after the shot I had extreme blood loss and had to stay in the hospital for three days. My stomach started blowing up like I was pregnant and I had constant abdominal pain I was bed ridden for 3 months. After several months I found out that I had developed IBS after taking the shot. My type of IBS is really debilitating I am in constant pain and have to take large amounts of pain pills. There is no cure for IBS so I have to live with this the rest of my life I do not recommend the Depo shot it ruined my life

I started the Droid April 6,2012.. I was spotting the first week the here it is now July 8 2012 and been bleeding heavily since May 27 2012... My lower stomach always hurts, sweating heavily, mood swings out thus world.. buying more tampons then I ever bought in my life... Dr. Says its nothing they can do but let the Depo wear off. They put me on birthcontrol pills it made the bleeding worse. Hormones are off the charts.. losing a lot of blood.. I just don't know what to do.. its is interfering with my sexual life, and my own life as well. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.... Please I WOULD NOT ADVISE THIS DRUG TO NO ONE!

My 21 year old daughter received the Depo shot 10 days ago to treat her continual bleeding that wasn't controlled with birth control pills. It shut off the bleeding but the side effects have been WAY worse than any bleeding! She has headaches and nausea so severe that she's spent much of this past week in the hospital. And she's got anxiety out of this world! I believe this medication is poison and I wanted to warn every woman out there who is considering trying this shot! I'd like to hear from anyone out there just how long the side effects last! AND how we go about filing a complaint!! We're about to go crazy!!!

I started using the shot when I was 16 years-old. From the 1st dose I had nonstop bleeding for over 3 months with spotting in between. With the 2nd dose I began having extremely painful and sharp pain in my pelvis and but. Pains were so bad it felt like I was being shocked from the inside. Couldn't move or breathe when they hiT. I told my doctor but he still gave me another dose. After that one I ended up in the ER from the symptoms. I also got severe headaches. When I stopped taking them I didn't have a period for over 3 months or longer. And when I finally did have one it lasted heavily for weeks. I use NUVA RING now and my cycle is back to normal. But I still get the pains and headaches and Im 21 now. So if you're thinking about taking this shot I would advise against it. Seriously!

I used the Depo shot for 5 years after my son was born. I have had problems with my teeth breaking apart which never happened before I started taking the shot. It wasn't until my teeth were beyond repair that I received the letter stating that the depo shot was unsafe. I stopped taking the shot immediately after reading the letter. The Health Dept. I went to even discontinued the shot because it was deemed unsafe. Now 7 years after getting off the shot, I will be beginning the long process of having all my teeth removed and replaced by dentures. I am only 31 years old. Nothing I get done to my teeth, fillings or anything, does not help. They just fall out. I DO NOT advise anybody to start taking this shot and have tried to talk my friends that do still take it to get off of it. If I could go back and do it again I would not take it again.
