The elderly woman was making a left-hand turn when her vehicle was struck on the passenger side by an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused severe and permanent injuries to her husband who was sitting in the passenger seat, and led to his death later that day.Police determined that the accident was entirely the elderly woman’s fault, despite her claim that the other vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, and issued her a traffic ticket for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. As a result, the insurance company for the oncoming driver also blamed the elderly woman for the accident and denied her claim for compensation.
