UK Amusement Park Accident Injures Four, Leaves 12 Hanging in Mid Air

. By
London, UKA shocking amusement park accident has occurred in the UK, involving one of Britain’s biggest amusement park rides. Four teenagers are seriously injured and several other riders were left stranded 8 meters in the air, according to officials.

Two cars on the Smiler ride at Alton Towers amusement park, collided, one empty and the other carrying 16 people. According to reports from the West Midlands Ambulance Services, two teenage girls and two teenage boys have suffered serious leg injuries. Twelve others onboard were not believed to be seriously injured. A platform had to be constructed in order for paramedics and firefighters to reach the riders, who were stuck in their seats at roughly a 45-degree angle.

Danny Simm, a musician and radio broadcaster, tweeted that he saw “people unconscious, knocked out. Blood everywhere. It really was shocking.”

Alton Towers is located 240 kilometres north of London. It is one of Britain’s most popular tourist attractions. Park authorities said there would be “a full investigation once all the guests have been evacuated, which is our priority.”

The Smiler Ride had been shut down earlier that same day, according to visitors to Alton Towers, because of technical problems, but had reopened before the crash.
