Zantac Bellwether Trials Likely in 2023

West Palm Beach, FL On June 14, the Southern District of Florida, where Zantac cancer lawsuits have been consolidated for pretrial motions, issued an amended case management schedule. The Order anticipates that bellwether trials will begin in 2023.

Zantac Breast Cancer Lawsuit

Los Angeles, CA On April 19, Marina Golden filed a Zantac cancer lawsuit in California state court, alleging that her years’ long use of Zantac caused her 2014 diagnosis of breast cancer. Her lawsuit seeks punitive and exemplary damages to punish the defendant manufacturers and retailers for their wrongful acts as well as compensatory damages in recognition of the harms that she suffered.

What to Expect in Zantac Cancer Lawsuits for 2021 and Beyond

West Palm Beach, FL As 2020 draws to a close, the toll of death and injury from Zantac-related cancers continues to rise, as do the number of Zantac cancer lawsuits. Meanwhile, In Re: Zantac (Ranitidine) Products Liability Litigation, the multidistrict litigation into which many of the individual lawsuits have been consolidated, grinds on without much apparent news.

Zantac Cancer Lawsuit Accuses Pharmaceutical Giants of Racketeering

West Palm Beach, FL In re: Zantac (Ranitidine) Products Liability Litigation, a class action lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Florida, is mammoth – the most exhaustive yet of all complaints consolidated in the multidistrict litigation (MDL). The 1361-page Zantac cancer lawsuit was filed on behalf of 230 plaintiffs, names 54 drug industry defendants and includes 314 counts under the laws of all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, as well as federal law.

New Zantac Lawsuit: Poison Pills Killed Carl Glasper

Wilmington, DE On July 21, Hiheshia Bell, the widow of Carl Glasper, filed a Zantac cancer lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court alleging that Zantac killed her husband. The lawsuit, which has since been removed to federal district court for the District of Delaware, delves deeply into the scientific evidence that Zantac was toxic.

FDA Pulls Zantac off Shelves

Washington, DC On April 1, the federal Food and Drug Administration asked manufacturers to withdraw Zantac and all other prescription and over-the-counter ranitidine drugs from the market immediately. It has also advised those who use OTC ranitidine medications to stop taking them immediately and patients with ranitidine prescriptions to speak with their health care providers. Zantac cancer lawsuits that cite the link between heartburn medications that contain ranitidine and various forms of cancer have been forming for months. The FDA has now finally taken affirmative steps to protect consumers.

Two Zantac Lawsuits, Two types of Cancer

Tampa, FL Two Zantac lawsuits recently filed allege the popular heartburn and acid reflux medication causes Zantac bladder cancer and Zantac colon cancer. Both plaintiffs claim they were exposed to dangerous amounts of N--Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a known cancer-causing chemical found in the medication.

Zantac Associated with Breast Cancer

Santa Clara, CA Several Zantac breast cancer lawsuits have been filed against the drug manufacturers, 12 years after a peer-reviewed study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center linked Zantac with breast cancer.

FDA Finally Pulls Zantac

Washington, DC Since at least last summer the FDA has known that a contaminant known as N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was present in ranitidine medications (commonly known as the brand name Zantac), but the agency didn’t order a withdrawal of the popular heartburn drug until this month – almost a year later. Chances are, countless people who have been taking a side of a potential carcinogen with their Zantac dose each day are concerned about the possibility of developing Zantac-related cancer —and many people are filing Zantac lawsuits.

Zantac Cancer Lawsuits Move to MDL Phase

West Palm Beach, FL Zantac cancer lawsuits will be consolidated in multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. At the time of its formation on February 6, the MDL included 15 cases. An additional 126 cases were pending in 21 districts nationwide, and more plaintiffs are expected to join. The consolidated lawsuit will include cancer injury claims and consumer class actions against defendants who manufactured, sold or distributed Zantac and other ranitidine medications.
