My Dumpster Story

In 1997, I opened an Italian Restaurant in California. I hated it right from the beginning when on the third day open, I had a gun pointed to my head while I was forced to open our safe. I had 24 employees and had become their mother, father, psychiatrist, bank, etc. I was making money, but had no life since I worked 6 days a week, 14 hour days.

I was very happy the day I sold it in 1999. There was one other day that I was actually happy, but that day did not start out that way. I arrived at the Restaurant at around 9:30 A.M. and found my dumpster completely filled with trash and stacks and stacks of boxes piled all around it. It was bad enough that I had not had my double espresso yet, but now I had to deal with someone else's crap and had no where to put my trash. The dumpster was empty just the day before.

So, I did what any law abiding citizen would do and I called the Sheriff's Office and told them what had happened. I told them that the person who left their crap had also dumped all of their mail in there, so I wanted them punished. I was told that they could do nothing because anyone could have thrown it in there and no one witnessed it.

I thanked the Sheriff's office for all of their help and hung up. I then called one of my delivery drivers who owned a big truck. He arrived about 10 minutes later and we started loading all of the trash in the bed of his truck. When we were finished, I decided to through one of my bags of trash on the pile as well and off we went to the address on the mail I had found.

When we pulled up to the house, my driver noticed that their were two kids playing in the front yard. I told him to make sure none of the crap hit the kids while we were unloading it. So we drove right up to their house and gave them back their trash. We unloaded right on their front lawn. The two kids just looked at us, so I told them not to mind us, we were just returning a few things that belonged to their parents.

When we finished, we drove back to my Restaurant and I finally had my double espresso!!
