New Study Suggests Link Between SSRI Use and Birth Defects
Tulsa, OK: A new study suggests that women who take
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) during pregnancy are at a greater risk for having children born with birth defects. Although the study did not include the risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), it did find an increase in another heart-related birth defect, known as a septal heart defect. Again, mothers are left to determine if the risk of
SSRI side effects, including SSRI birth defects, is worth the benefit that taking SSRIs may provide.

Oklahoma Plane Crash Claims Four From One Family

Tulsa, OK: The September 5th
plane crash in Oklahoma that killed five people not only ended the lives of four from one family, but also tragically ended a love affair that began in high school. Dr. Stephen Lester and his wife Dana, both 48, perished together with two teenaged daughters Laura, 16 and Christina, 13. A family friend, Dr. Kenneth Veteto—who was 50 and like the others in the aircraft was from Tulsa—also died in the airplane crash.

Oklahoma Plane Crash Kills Five
Tulsa, OK: A
plane crash in Oklahoma has taken five lives. According to cnn.com (September 5, 2009) the plane, a Piper PA-32, was flying from Richard Lloyd Jones Jr. Field and headed to Dallas Texas. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane clipped a wire minutes after takeoff and crashed in Chandler Park in Tulsa.
