- Maramont Beef Recall The Maramont Corporation is voluntarily recalling approximately 88 pounds of a beef patty product that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the FSIS announced. The product subject to recall include 2-oz packages of "Broiled Beef Patty." Each case label bears a lot code of "07352" and product number "2801." The beef patty products were produced on Dec. 18 and distributed on Dec. 19 to schools in the Jersey City, NJ area. The problem was discovered through routine FSIS testing at the establishment. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.
New York Firm Recalls Beef Patty Products For Possible Listeria Contamination: [FSIS]
- Coffee Cake Recall Wegmans Food Markets Inc., an upscale supermarket chain with 71 stores in five states, is recalling wreath-shaped kuchen or coffee cakes because the product label did not mention that they contain pecans. People who have an allergy to pecans run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction. No injuries have been reported. About 4,400 of the 14-ounce holiday-season cakes, which are topped with red and green cherries, have been offered for sale at Wegmans stores since Nov. 25 with a "best if used by" date of Dec. 12. More than 2,000 were purchased and the remaining ones were removed from store shelves. The family-owned business has 50 stores in New York, 11 in Pennsylvania, seven in New Jersey, two in Virginia, and one in Maryland. Wegmans Chain Recalls Coffee Cake After No Mention of Pecans in Label [FOX NEWS: COFFE CAKE RECALL]
- Undeclared Allergens Custom Culinary, Inc., is recalling approximately 990 pounds of beef and chicken base products because they may contain undeclared allergens. The beef base product contains milk and soy, which are known allergens. Jars of the beef base product may be mislabeled as chicken base, which does not declare these allergens on the label. The beef and chicken base products were produced on April 12, 2007, and were shipped to distribution warehouses in California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, New Jersey, North Dakota, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. These products were intended for food service and restaurant use, and are not expected to be available for purchase in retail establishments.
