$1.4M Settlement Reached by LACMTA for Man Killed by Bus

Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles County Metro Transit Authority has settled a lawsuit lawsuit filed by the father of a man who was killed in an accident involving the LACMTA in 2009.

Donald A. Barrett, the 40-year old victim, was on the crosswalk on Pacific Avenue in Venice, CA, when a LACMTA bus made a right turn into the crosswalk, hitting him. Barrett was then dragged for two blocks until a witness was able to pull in front of the bus and stop it. Donald Barrett was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The settlement, $1.4 million, was reached in mediation.
