Families of Workers Killed at Construction Site Awarded $10.5M

Austin, TX: Three construction site workers who fell 11 stories to their deaths, and a fourth worker who survived by clinging to the side of the building, were awarded $10.5 million as settlement of their workplace accident lawsuit.

Raudel Ramirez Camacho, Jesus Angel Lopez Perez, Wilson Joel Irias Cerritos and Henry Renan Sanchez Suazo were working on an American Mast Climbers platform, applying stucco to the exteriod of a high-rise apartment building in Austin. In their lawsuit the families of the dead men claimed that the platform suddenly gave way and the men plumeted to the ground, and were killed instantly. Suazo was the only one of the four ment to survive by grabbing onto a balcony and pulling himself to safety. The families claimed that the mast climber was in poor condition with many rusted or damaged parts and the platform was attached with bolts that were too small.
