Woman Attacked by Dog Awarded $80K

Lenawee County, MI: The jury hearing a dog bite injury lawsuit brought by a woman attacked by a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mixed-breed dog has awarded the plaintiff $80K in settlement.

In her suit, the woman claimed she was attempting to look at a house for rent when she was attacked by the dog, suffering bites to her back, arm and leg. She alleged that as a result of the dog bites she sustained resideual scarring and emotional distress.

The dog owner claimed that the woman was trespassing, and therefore provoked the dog. However, the jury found for the plaintiff, that she was not trespassing but on the property legally and that the dog, although kenneled, had dug a whole under his kennel and escaped.
